This product is a deliberately named ripoff of the outstanding Mac DVD Ripper Pro. They attempt to sucker you into purchasing it by mistake by adding the 'x' into the name. It is a poor implementation and they sell numerous oddly named derivatives that are subsets of the program: ipad dvd ripper?!? iphone dvd ripper? ipod dvd ripper? itunes ripper? Really?
Not to mention the 'converter' products for each of the device categories. And let's look at the magical price of only $34.95 PER ITEM.
They frequently have 'giveaways' which state only that no updates or tech support are provided for the giveaways. They do not state the following which you receive if you contact them because the serial does not work "code from the giveaway is only able to activate the program during the giveaway only. You can keep the full version unless you try to update, remove the license yourself, format/replace the hard drive or reinstall the whole system once you registered the program before the deadline." None of these caveats are listed on the website, in the 'documentation' or anywhere at all.
Avoid this lousy product and use Mac DVD Ripper pro.
This program works unless you quit and restart. If you quit for any reason it cannot re-establish downloads and everything is lost. Frickin retarded! You can have 99.99% of a download or 1% it doesn't matter it cannot re-establish the torrent and continue. This problem does not occur with BitTorrent or nay other torrent clients. This renders this program useless. The inability to resume a torrent is ridiculous. This has occurred on several computers under both 10.5 and 10.6 and multiple versions of this program. I don't know why it cannot do this but I won't be using it ever again.
Love it. Played it for 10+ years now. BUT PLEASE make a Boom2 or add on levels. I would love to see new content and after 10+ years I think its time for more!
This is the BEST program and its FREE! You can easily cut and edit movies without problems (simplemovie x SUCKs for editing and costs almost $40). You can convert avi into various formats. Also this is the only program I've found (there may be more I haven't found them) that finds and fixes timecode breaks. If you've ever downloaded movies and only a fragment plays or some other really weird things, then run it through here and run 'fix time code breaks' and suddenly you have a restored movie. Save and done.
Simply not worth the time or money. I've tried to use it since v2 and that worked better than any of the v3 versions but it still wasn't satisfactory. You would think it would be the equivalent of graphic converter but it's not. Many movies edited have cuts in the wrong places when you save the movie or, my personal favorite, it adds in huge lengths of black screen at the end of the movie that amazingly match the exact amount of time you removed from the movie to shorten it. Further attempts to remove those junk areas actually replicate and add them in AGAIN and the movie grows in size like a salamander under an xray machine! And they want $39 for this?!?!?! -I believe it used to be $29. The solution I found that is flawless for editing movie clips is using MPEG Streamclip AND IT'S FREE! I'll never go back to *not*simple movie x again. It's a horrible product that fails to do even basic editing correctly let alone anything fancy (which it doesn't if you were wondering). Avoid it.
What, are they afraid to call it OSX 10.6.9?? It would be the best named OS of all time. Colbert would have a blast asking if people had '6.9 their computer.

Firefox 6?!?! I just downloaded Firefox 48! It can do the Kessel run in 3.4 parsecs! Its easily performing at least 13 femto seconds faster than the competition!!!! It's also 512 bit compliant. I must note that there is some space-time distortion with the new trans-continium quagama engine which is violating both causuality and the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.
Started to a black screen for about 10 secs then crashed out.
OSX 10.3.9, dual 2 GZ G5,4 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 Ultra w/256 MB,30" Apple display, 100 GB free on drive. Nothing else running.
Looks like it would be fun to play. Will try on another system.
UPDATE: The black window dialogue box created from a conflict between this and Print Window 3.1.5 did not go away on restart. It was permanent corruption. I narrowed it down to a user preference then had to try likely suspects until I found the problem. The user>lib>preferences folder: com.apple.systemuiserver.plist was corrupted. removing it and relogging in fixed things.
