The application won't launch properly - no browser window appears. When I quit it, a crash dialogue window pops up. This is on my 3 year old Intel MacBook Pro with 10.6.3
I downloaded it and tried it out, but after 10 minutes I knew its not for me. Basically, it is a cross between Safari and Apple Mail. I do not need a hybrid. Apple Mail does everything I need it to do, I don't see the point of this app.
When I looked inside the package I see resources for X11, and I do not have X11 installed on my machine. Maybe this is the problem? Rebooting did not help.
I like the functionality - it really does act/behave like a real keyboard, with a few extra features thrown in, such as a text field to type in and to speak back that text. Would be nice if if could act like a drawer to pop in and out whenever it got a mouse-over.
However, I do not like the aesthetics - enough so to hold me back from buying the app. I hope the user interface will become more improved, maybe give it a photo realistic look, right now it looks very 2-D, and the arrows look like they were doodled in by a pre-schooler. The app looks like something out of from System 6. And the red "X" to minimize the the app is not Mac-like at all, and when it does minimize it looks as hoky as the Icon down in the dock. I hope these things will become addressed, because underneath it all I think the programing is good. To sum up, it needs to be more Mac like.
Very plain and straight forward little app, does exactly what is advertised. Wish the text field was several rows instead of just one. A workaround is perhaps to write up your text using textedit and then do a copy and paste into the small space provided. Wish there was an option to save output in other formats other than AIFF, but again the workaround is to open the AIFF file with an audio editor (I use Amadeus) to convert to wav or other formats. For free, it's brilliant.
