After updating from 4.0.6 to 4.0.7 without syncing before (I forgot…) – sync with my iPhone was impossible (no pair found). After reinstalling 4.0.6 from TimeMachine it did sync without any further interaction. After udating a second time to 4.0.7 syncing worked also there … puuh – Bento at its best…

Works very well in the background, very rare situations where the activitity of the background scanner is tangible (repairing permissions with disk utility needs longer). Seems much more mature than ClamXav, and works apparently much faster on large archives. Really automatic update of definition simply works. Yet to see: behavior on older PPC macs.

Mac OS 10.4+
Supports iPhoto 4,5,6 and iPhoto '08 (version 7)

Works very well sice a long time now, isn't needed, but I like it.

Can't understand how people rely on this software product. I'm struggling with the actual version en_US-6.0.11994.637263 and Windows XP Professional as a Bootcamp-Installation. It get's slower and slower, incredible slow until a near standstill of both Mac and virtual machine without equivalent activity either in the process manager in Windows and Activity Monitor on the Mac. Absolutely horrible user experience. Deinstalled, reinstalled, acceleration for a few days – actually absolutely unusable: Boot in Windows Desktop doesn't come to an end after half an hour, shutting down very difficult -->> Native use of the Bootcamp-Installation works fully normal. Epic fail.

Misha: Thanks for pointing me to parallels support. I rarely contact personally these services - the knowledge base doesn't have a lot (2 cryptic start-options, not explained for what purpose). Didn't test it. I tried to use the product out of the box - on top of a very standard Boot Camp install.

Stickman67: Thanx for hint on optimizing Windows. I won_t do this - because it is largely senseless, as well informed windows-user know. And as i wrote, same windows runs well if I boot directly into it (Boot Camp).

Gryffin: THATS IT. I reduced the size of VM-RAM from 1GB to 768MB. At first ran into disaster (this version here isn't the actual one, updater proposed to do good work - and crashed in updating the included parallels tools) -but now seems to run at least faster. Isn't consuming ALL RAM in my 4GB-RAM MacBookPro2009 - leaves 30 MB RAM on the Mac side... That's naked WinXP, plus a non-invoked virus scanner.

Stickman67: Sorry, probably my english is too bad for not coming on the offensive...
But if you read my last words in the review: (Native use of the Bootcamp-Installation works fully normal. Epic fail) and then your answer (First, if you Google along the lines of "optimize windows" for your brand (XP/Vista/7, etc.) you can usually find a heap...) -- let's say, it doesn't match very well.
(Did you ever do that? I got 3 mio results, mainly senseless and time-comsuming, partially dangerous suggestions...)

1 - all given links here are dead, no immediate download, mozy.com asks to register first.

2 - I used mozy after very positive reviews in german c't – over a year, but ended in zero support (stability issues). My account has vanished. Actually mozy.com attempts to trick the user in a payed model – I got an ad-mail a few days ago saying 'why don't you come to backup all your data for a monthly 6$' - that doesn't exist at all (no flat).

3 - https://mozy.de/home/download gives links for downloads, but not for the version announced here...

-> Stay away.

PS: Rating (stars) here in MU was much simpler before...

I'm sorry to correct myself ... isn't working correctly:
no crashes or problems with options, but perhaps one minute (possibly the raw length of the included fireside-film?) after the time-activated start the screensaver vanishes and gives back control to the underlying system. After doing nothing, that repeats...
I don't find anything in the logs - and other screensavers don't show this behaviour.

This is a very fast and convenient viewer. Very well done - I don't know if this app does all what you need, but everybody should try it.
And - did you look for the capability of 'Losslessy rotate and crop JPEG images. This lets you edit your digital photographs without losing quality by re-compressing them like most other editors do.'??
Yes - it is from the description of this program. And it's FAST. Do this with GraphicConverter. 1000 photos to turn 90 degrees counterclockwise? You'll die before...

SugarSync Manager

Just downloading - slow connection - 1.7.7

I hope the ugly bug will have gone: the Contextual Menu of SugarSync (aimed at doing nearly nothing at all) is crashing all Office2004 products when invoking a contextual menu !!!
And after deletion it is reinstalled by the app.
What helps? Opening the SugarSync-CM-package, delete the folder Contents:MacOS. Close.
