@Kinetic Puma yes, Panther No (unless of course there's a Mountain Panther, but I don't think there is. I'm waiting for Civet but that will likely come from Honda, not Apple.
I certainly respect other folks' opinions, but I still find Camino's UI unattractive ('ugly' is probably too strong a word). Firefox (I have v. 9.0, and, finally, it is looking good, too, and it's faster (for me), than Camino. If Camino would create something closer to OmniWeb's UI I might consider it. I started with Camino while it was still Chimera and the concept of a faster, more Mac UI-like browser that is still simple and doesn't hog a barge-load of CPU and memory as Safari, Ffx and Chrome do, I will stick with Chrome, which is my current browser of choice.
I downloaded and launched the new update. It is very fast, and may take the lead among browsers. I won't eat my words, but qualify them. I'm very glad to see that development is proceeding, with nightly builds, to boot!
Page rendering seems faster, but is definitely clearer and sharper, more contrasty. Best of the bunch. Bravo, Mozilla, though I'll stick with Chrome, why I don't know, just to be the same, only different.
Strangely, when I run software update, 10.7.1 doesn't show. 10.7.1 Server does, but not Lion OS. I also downloaded from this site and attempted to install. I got the error message, "Your system is incompatible with this software." Go figure. Perhaps it has to do with my mac. I have a late 2008 2.8 GHz Core Duo. I may call AppleCare if I don't find an answer.
I love Maintenance, as well as Onyx. But I'm surprised to find that neither works with Lion. I also don't find either app listed in the App Store. Could there be an oversight here. Please keep developing, I would gladly pay something for Maintenance.
Onyx 2.4.0b3 is now compatible with Lion. Maybe Maintenance will be compatible soon. Or, Onyx may replace Maintenance, since Onyx does everything Maintenance does, among other things.
Thanks, Titanium 1 and Jazzica. I caught up with both apps meanwhile, but I have a question to Titanium 1: Does the latest version automatically verify the hard disk, and check S.M.A.R.T. status (whatever that is, I've not looked it up)? Also, can one set a preference in Maintenance to reboot after completing its routines?
jalada Language Alchemist is a solid, well built app at a fair price, overall good value for money. It is ready to hand, not difficult to configure for my purposes (light to medium use). I use several other (free) online resources in addition to jLA, to augment and refine my work, no single solution is fully adequate and you can pay a lot for not very much better results than jLA - as often as not they can be worse, or much worse even an obstacle to good efficient translation. All in all for a software translation tool, this is about as good as it gets. (p.s. I'm not paid anything for my reviews, and I'm not in any way connected with the developers, now or in the past.)
Very nice app, really. Unfortunately, I already use Bean, which is also a very nice app. But, if I were to be in the market for a capable attractive and very well supported (by developer) text editor/simpler word processor, I might choose this one. Excellent value. Congratulations to the developer. (p.s. I have not been paid for my review, nor do I have any connection with the developer of Schreiben, so feel free).

Ever since MacSword turned 2.0 I have been unable to get it to launch successfully on my 2008 iMac. I have commented on this a number of times before in this column, been told by the developer that it must be something about my specific system setup, that I should describe precisely what the problem is (which I do as best as I can), and the problem will be discovered and solved.
I am trying once more to get a better result, namely a *solution* so I can use the app.
My setup is: late 2008 iMac 24", 2.8 GHz Intel, 4 GB ram, OS 10.6.3 (the newest iteration). I have a modest number of apps I use regularly, most of which are in wide use by Mac Users.
Hopefully this time will prove the charm.
