If you know what your are looking for in the newsgroup, there is no better tool than NZBVortex. Use the search function, click the download button and then just wait until the file is downloaded, merged and decompressed. Great piece of software!

Incredible:

- Freezes, crashes, and even more crashes. (Snow Leopard 10.6.2, iMac i7) It's nearly impossible to use it more than 2 minutes!

- Message filter can't be selected -> not working

- Doesn't show the number of new headers in the favorite group list anymore.

- Doesn't have a own category for images anymore.

- Image preview is a pain in the a...

The best feature is that it does not use the old database. Downgrade to 1.8 is guaranteed.
