One thing I miss is where GC's slideshow feature would go down more than one or two folder levels.
If I have:
Folder
- SubFolder1
- SubSubFolder1.1
- SubSubFolder1.2
- SubFolder2
- SubSubFolder2.1
- SubSubFolder2.2
and I point the Slideshow at "Folder", ever since GC 7.x it will only show the images directly inside SubFolder1; nothing in the SubSubFolders will appear, and oddly nothing directly inside SubFolder2 either.
It's the only reason I still keep GC 6.x around, as it has a pref for Subfolder depth, while GC 7.x does not.
The description of how it "optimizes" your system is utter garbage. The system (developed by a team of hundreds in a multi-billion dollar company, as well as 20+ years of UNIX development and developers prior) optimizes your memory usage for you. If you "purge", you will REDUCE your computer's performance, as it has to flush to the disk (nowdays the slowest component of your computer) far more often than it normally would. And then waste more time re-reading stuff back off the disk.
The fact that this "developer" doesn't understand this says that you should run away as fast as you can.
What sane, backyard snake-oil developer thinks that they can manage Mac OS X memory better than a multi-billion dollar company and 20+ years of UNIX development and developers?
If you use one of these garbage apps to "free" memory - in complete defiance of any actual knowledge of what the computer is actually doing -, you deserve all the crap that will happen as a result of you screwing around with the system's complex organisational system.
