Not ready for prime time. Requires buffering every 10 - 20 seconds over an Ethernet connection making it unusable. And there are no controls at all!!?? But I implore and encourage the effort there is little else available that dose this as Apple clearly not able to... unbelievably.
Have to say I’ve been using this product now for many years and it has become the only virus package we use across all our networks. It just keeps getting better.
Another app that places ridiculous restrictions on its so called "Trial" You cant actually test it to see if it dose what it purports. Don’t waste your money or time down loading it. There are plenty of other apps that do actually "Trial" their functions fully so you can actually see if they deliver what they promise. We have given them our money and will continue to do so.
Well that makes two of us and the majority of our clients feel the same and also steer clear of the products you have mentioned if at all possible for the same reasons. I am the money person and I make the recommendations for our client base also so I like to let the developers know when we don’t buy just as much as letting them know why we do buy. A lot of people just don’t bother telling them. And we spend thousands on shareware. And the shareware that is easiest to trial gets the dollars before we look at the cost. We will buy a more expensive product if the trial is not cripple ware. We really want to see it work without impediment before we pay for it.
Over priced. Tried it for a week but doesn't work with Typeit4me. A must. It appears expansions created from auto pastes dont work. Only ten entries allowed for the trial which is ridiculous. We were almost prepared to over look the Typeit4me incompatibility but when we hit the ten entries limit we exported and it went straight into the trash. Also had to manually open the database each time a real pain.
Over priced. Too restrictive trial conditions meant it was launched once then dumped into the trash. Come back with a better price and a less restrictive demo condition and it will get a better look.
The idea of a trial for me is to see how a product works in its full capacity. Being nagged or reminded all the time that its a trial or placing restrictions and limits on the products functionality just interferes with the experience and annoys the hell out of you. I start and restart my computer several times a day. This "Trial" will not give me the full experience of using the product unimpeded. There is enough annoying stuff being thrown up at us on our computer screens as it is. Drop the 24 hour limitation and get us hooked and watch the sales increase. PreMinder at least "Looks" like it might be worth the asking price. We just trailed Memoires and it was a total pain. But it did run for a week before it hit the annoying threshold and it was sent straight to the trash. Your product at least look nice and we would give it a second look if you drop the 24 hr run limit. Where as Memoires unless they give it a total rethink and reprice are out of the race. It appears we are still looking for that calendaring solution. If we can have an uninterrupted look at your product for a reasonable time frame it may be PreMinder. Utill then unfortunately not.
As I’m sure you can appreciate we all work differently on our computers. It is difficult to create a solution that suites all users. But perception is key. We did down load the product and launched it and liked the look of it but once we read there were restrictions it was unfortunately all over. We perceived the restrictions like most of these products were just another waste of our valuable time. We didn't bother any further. We didn't want yet another product wasting our time with restrictions and limitations. 40 did stand out as an interesting number how ever but so did 24 hours and 24 hours over rid the interest in 40. 40 sounded high and 24 sounded too low so we didn't investigate any further. And this was on the back of the week we just wasted reviewing Memoires . We didn't want to wast any more time with functionally limited software. We want a solution we can use for a period of time (much more than 24 hours) and that when we become hooked will seamlessly allow us to go to the Web site and make our payment and automatically have the registration entered for us. It needs to be easy for us. But then it is also unusual to have a developer respond to a post on their products at all never mind with in minutes of posting and then offer to negotiate on the trial restrictions. Kudos to you and yes if you are prepared to drop the 24 hr restrictions we are more than willing to give it a proper trial. But it will need to be at least 10 days. We just spent 7 on the last product and it wasn't near enough. I cant count the number of emails I have sent developers over the years that I have never received a reply too (even for products I have actually paid for) so who would have thought you would respond so immediately. So over to you.
Oh and just a note about your rating... Yes you see the problem with placing limits and restrictions on your "trials" is that as is happened here you run the risk of your review being based on the restrictions you have placed on your trial and not the actual software itself. If there were no restrictions on the trial software then the review would have been based on the software and not the restrictions that have ultimately gotten in the way of reviewing the product sans restrictions. Again perception is everything. Remove the restrictions and give us the opportunity to actually review the product and not its perceived/documented limitations. I know its a catch 22.
Its simple. If you want to sell your product, then make it easy for people to see if they like it and see if it works for them with out impeding the use of the application with too many limits and annoying reminders. If not there are a lot of other products around. And I have sent you an email asking to take advantage of the alternative trial as you suggested but have received no response from you. This is not "agitation" is just telling you what clearly most people are thinking but not telling you by the plethora of absent ratings posted here in the last 3 years and none for this version except for me. Make the trial 40 days on one trial and we will give it another look. Otherwise we are moving on. And I’m sorry but I think it is still a bit over priced for what it dose. But I also have to say its one of the nicest looking apps of this type we have seen so we are at least willing to give it another look if the trial restrictions were eased.
Oh boy. Clearly you are not reading my responses here. I’ll say it again for you. Everybody works differently. We reboot our computers up to 4-5 times a day so your restrictions would mean apart from having to click the splash screens telling us we have xx numbers of diminishing launches 4-5 times a day (Very annoying) the trial for us will be over in under 10-15 days. Not worth our time. Perhaps for others this would be tolerable. But not for us. This is the end of the discussion. Thank you for your time.
I too think its to pricy for an upgrade that actually doesn't look like it has been upgraded. And the first task I gave it was to do a search and it promptly crashed!
I've been using Total Finder for a few months and gave up on ForkLift. I don't know why. But Total Finder has given me the utter utters with its total out of control Windows that ghost and wont close (Just one of a number of bugs in Total Finder) So I literally stopped using TF yesterday and today comes the ForkLift update so I think OK I'll give it another try. And what dose it do first thing Crash on me. Not Good.
I tried PathFinder for a few weeks but it did nothing but crash and hang. If this "Update" were to actually run for a while and work as advertised I would consider the upgrade price but for the moment I think not. Looks like I'll be resorting back to the finder.
We are back to PathFinder. They appear to have resolved some of the stability issues. Sorry ForkLift although you did resolve the crashing issue rather quickly PathFinder appears to have the edge and their updates are free.
