Lock Me

When you click on the icon in the task bar you are presented with "Lock Me", "Icon", "Start At Login", "About", and "Quit". They do the obvious functions.
The only con I see is that it is a 64 Bit app and takes 8.0M of memory; a 32 Bit may require significantly less.
It is easy to use, it works, and I like it!

Not everyone keeps the screensaver lock on all of the time. I don't like it myself for most daily use. I generally only turn it on when there are visitors over, especially with children. As you can guess, this iMac is a home machine. Most of the time I'm alone, but sometimes my college-age daughter is here and some of her friends with her. Some of them simply can't resist "helping" with an available computer - mine is in our dining room.

I'm sure that clever people can find multiple ways to do most anything; that is part of what makes using an OS so difficult is that there many ways of doing something, quite a few users find them obscure.
It is often difficult to choose one way and settle on it because someone else will pipe up with their favorite way to do that thing, further confusing - or perhaps clarifying the issue. In any event the noise level can become significant.
The usefulness of this app is its simplicity.
As is frequently said "your mileage may vary".

Speed download (5.1.1) is well integrated into Leopard and works with the web browsers I use (Safari and Firefox) with no fuss or clutter. It does what it is supposed to do, batching downloads and maximizing throughput. I use the download filters to automatically sort my downloads (by extension) into specific sub-directories and find that helpful in managing my downloads folder.
I haven't needed tech support yet, but they processed my request for a license to switch in a couple of hours, the first thing the next day after ordering, which I rate very very good (I was already using the product in a trial).
I thought the product I upgraded from was terrific until I tried Speed Download. I rate this program as the best I've seen & used on the Mac. Thanks for the special price for "switchers" Yazsoft! Your program is worth every penny and more!
