SteerMouse supports USB and Bluetooth mice. It will even work with mice designed for Windows PCs. You can customize your mouse freely even if there is no Macintosh's driver.
If I have a large list of files it causes kernel panics on OS 10.6.8. Just upgraded to 10.6.8 recently, and Transmission is most definitely the issue here. Never any other app, I can run for days. When I launch Transmission and have a lot of seeds, it kernel panics my machine EVERY SINGLE TIME. Frigging junk.
It's quite unlikely that there's bad ram because the system ran flawlessly prior to installing 10.6.8. And it does not kernel panic on anything but Transmission.
Another quick observation...how in the world do people get stuff like this on the App Store?? From what I've heard of Apple's process, they sure aren't living up to their own rules. I suggest contacting Apple and letting them know this app doesn't work as advertised.
They haven't fixed the dumass huge interface, it's too bad more "new" people are using it who seem to have no clue what they were giving up. It's Windoze Windoze Windoze crap. Just trying to accept a file transfer is a pain. I'm still using 2.8, it serves me fine.
And I do know how many stars to give it, and yes I'd knock half a star (or more) off for a function that's supposed to work and doesn't, so the previous reviewer might want to stop calling people pathetic for doing that.
I won't even begin to go into the absolute nightmare tech support is for Skype if you have an issue. I use the paid version as a phone. I have been for about 3-4 years. I went to pay my bill, and their site wouldn't accept my card because of this Verified-by-Visa garbage which I refuse to be a member of. They were sending the Transaction Data incorrectly, confirmed by my bank while on the phone with the bank and trying a payment.
I started trying to use their idiotic email-only tech support. They were simply copying and pasting answers that had absolutely ZERO to do with the issue. This went on for a week, and about 7 or 8 different reps, all never even bothering to read my original ticket.
I finally got on a live chat. The first person I talked to on there REFUSED to get me a supervisor after repeated requests, and actually IGNORED me for like 15 minutes and refused to respond. Unforgivable.
After a couple days I tried again. After a very long drawn out conversation where a sup was explaining everything about the payment process, and many things I didn't need to know, she gave up. She could not answer my question about why a perfectly good credit card didn't work on their site. At one point she even accused me of trying to use my card from a different country and telling me that was why it didn't work because my IP was different. I haven't been to another country in 15 years LOL. And it was always the same IP. She could not give an avenue to correct the issue, even when I got my bank on the phone while in the chat and tried again, and my bank confirmed that the data for payment was being sent incorrectly by Skype's payment processor! I finally had to go and open a paypal (which I abhor) account to pay my bill. I had been at least a month on these issues, had gotten bogus answers from at least 15 support reps, they should all be fired for not doing their jobs at all, they just paste whatever the hell they want to from their help site without even researching the issue at all.
Their website is REALLY HARD to navigate, and unless you have extreme patience like I do, it's almost impossible to open a regular old support ticket without first going through like 10 screens of them offering you their FAQ's and crap.
You would think a company you pay money to would have a different type of support for their paying customers than they do for their free customers. They don't. I have NEVER experienced such contemptible support from any company.
Did I say this already...their latest versions are complete WINDOZE GARBAGE that doesn't deserve to be called a Mac app. Prior to 2.8, it was acceptable and worked fine. Now it's simple bloatware with a huge interface that's not Mac-like in the least.
Please find an older version and use it. Don't support this nonsense.
It found a few pc malware files. I'm sure Sophos added these to their big false percentage of infected Macs (you've read recent news eh?). I have a whole lot of archives on a few drives. Right now I'm scanning a lot of old pc files I moved from DVD's and Sophos found 6 out of 7 files with a "Mal/Generic-S" Threat name. After researching, it's plain to see that the name is their own "classification" they give to files that their program can't understand!! They are flagging things that MAY or MAY NOT BE Malware just becasue their app can't really identify if it is or not, it *might* have the characteristics of Malware. THIS IS FAR FROM CONCLUSIVE AND AKIN TO FRAUDULENT VIRUS REPORTING.
ALSO and more importantly: I'm running a Quad Core 3.2 GHz machine, and Sophos is right now flagging in Activity Monitor as using OVER 100% PROCESSOR TIME. This is totally unacceptable. I was curious why opening windows was so slow and clicking the mouse took like 3 seconds before it activated the click. That's why.
DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM. Soon as this scan is finished I'm dumping their false-reporting, processor-sucking piece of junk off my machine. And I'm going to publicize this all over....their doomsaying about 60% (or whatever it was) of Macs infected with Malware IS A BIG FAT LIE.
The other day I ran it on all my drives, it took hours to complete, and didn't come up with a single infected Mac file, just a few old pc files with that same Generic warning. This company is really having a hayday with this recent Java malware...they are trying to capitalize on it and RIP OFF Mac users with false information.
PS, yes I realize this version is free, but there's a lot of naive people who are gonna bite and buy the paid version thinking it's somehow better after some of their PC files get flagged. Thus as I said...a big fat rip-off.
They are still totally unresponsive, after over a year. I have tried many times. I filed a BBB Report. I've even tried to buy their service, but they simply will not respond at all to emails, won't let me log in to my account even though the free dyn ip stays active on that account because I update it. Completely unacceptable, beware of this company. The Daemon doesn't work after a restart as said before.
Should be known that these people offer NO support if you're using the free updater (I have no idea if they offer it for paid version like they say) and that it's impossible to email them with sales inquiries. They simply will not respond. I have been trying numerous times for over a year.
I have tried to go to their forums, confirmed good password via a reset, and it simply blinks back to the login page when trying to log in, using multiple browsers. They will not respond to email at all. I have tried sales@, support@, and they do not respond.
The update daemon no longer functions on the Mac when you restart, and there is just NO WAY to contact them. The emails don't get returned, so I know they are getting them. I'm willing to BUY the damn product, but for all practical purposes this is a dead horse for the Mac.
It just crashes on 10.6.7 soon as I try to save a project. Did the same last time I tried it on 10.5.x. I need to find something else for occasional audio edits, this was stable and worked fine way back on my G4 5 years ago but doesn't work at all in Leopard.
Well thanks to the dev who is masquerading as a regular user on these reviews, for sayng how to create a block list to add specific IP's for blocking.
BUT...this is still archaic. It needs to be within the interface. People don't want to hack and create files, they want a convenient way to do something within the app. When an end user has to add things on their own to make an app function like it should in the first damn place, then that's needing to "hack" to give it a function the dev didn't or couldn't give it. Didn't ever see Steve Jobs put out an app and then tell people "Oh to do this you need to go and do this on your own." If a function made sense, it was built into the app.
Still doesn't allow individual choking of peers who won't give back but continue to leech at high speeds. Evidently this dev. is incapable of this level of programming, even though most other p2p apps will allow that function.
Oh really? Do you come here just to dis other people or to be helpful? I rate apps on how they work...seems you like to come and insult people. Why don't you let the rest of the world in on your great secrets of "understanding apps" before you just come and dis. I don't see your review as helpful at all, I see it as a personal insult. I have posted about this app having inabilities before, and not even the DEV has been willing to say anything about how to individually add peers to a blocklist. So out with it Mr. Smarty Pants...share with the rest of the world and stop being mean.
As I already have said...isn't it OBVIOUS that this 190mud fraud is the developer throwing a passive aggressive tantrum because people are dissing his app for things it really should have and don't? People should report him, I thought that was against the rules here.
