After an incredibly long beta testing, I'm glad to see this has finally released. The interface hasn't changed much over the long used classic version, which is both a positive (for us old-timers) but perhaps a liability for those newer to the Mac experience.
Hopefully soon many of the texts will also be updated. (typos, etc.) I know the Byzantine Greek text has been completely revised since the 2001 edition and needs to be replaced with the 2006+ edition. With new and updated texts, hopefully on the new CD's I'm sure the value will be much more than the cost.
I've found, however, in the long wait, that MacSword is so much more intuitive, flexible, and easy to use. (More OS X-like) The only thing really lacking in MacSword are the copyrighted texts.
Amazingly enough, I have to say that the 12.2 update has made application launching MUCH faster on my MacBook Pro. I don't have any numbers, but it seems like it takes half the time or less. (it's about time, it was ridiculously and frustratingly slow)
I've been waiting for 7+ years for this (since I moved to the Mac), so I don't wish to kick a gift-horse in the teeth, but even with a MBP DCP-2.33 and 2 gigs of RAM, this thing has a lot of lags, in scrolling and other areas. (yes, I'm using the Intel version) For now, NeoOffice seems to be more useable, but I anticipate more optimization in the future. Office 2007 support is excellent from what I've experienced.
I've been trying hard to be content without this app but it keeps getting better and I keep getting more frustrated with other methods of writing. (Word, etc.)
It won't be long and I'll be completely under its control and reaching for my wallet..... can't.... resist.... must..... have.....
Best Word Processor for OSX period. It's affordable, usable, top-notch support, and keeps getting better with leaps and bounds. As a writer, I need something reliable and MS Word has never fit that definition on any platform. Mellel is the way to go!
It has a slight learning curve because Redlex is more concerned about being well thought out and doing things the better way than by imitating Word like everybody else. Mellel is well worth the ROI of reading the brief tutorials to get the most out the product.
