Good first version. Integrate drag and dropping of file / email / text items like Alarms (the app) does, and the sky is the limit (for your productivity)...
There's a new version of MovieIcon out and I'll take the opportunity to add the following to my previous review...
Ricardo, the developer, has been extremely responsive and was able to implement the features I've asked for, in about a week or so...
Buy it just to try it (like I did)... if for some reason you're not satisfied, you can contact Apple and ask for a refund. So don't worry (as I've worried for the first months of using the Mac App Store) about not being able to download a trial...
This is the best app I've found for grabbing movie covers from IMDB and TMDb. It's beautiful, it's sleek, it's great.
I've been searching for an app like this for quite a while, so I'm pretty sure this is the best one there is.
This app is particularly useful if you like to have your movies in your own folder structure, instead of being locked into some media player's own structure.
...You're able to just navigate in Finder (with cover flow enabled) and easily see each movie's poster / cover. It's simple, and elegant -- like everything on the Mac should be. :)
I'm sorry for the negative tone of my previous post. The developer actually answered my email regarding that issue I'm mentioned before and informed me that it is in fact due to a bug in Safari which should be fixed in a month or so.
I've advised him to warn users about this situation in the product's webpage.
I've spent the last days reviewing several apps of this kind, and this one beats all the others, hands down.
I was really disappointed with some of the other apps out there, but not with this one. Not at all.
Simple, but powerful where you need it. Does everything most all people will generally want for customizing folders.
You're able to make incredibly good-looking folder images with very, very little effort!
I realize that this post may sound like hype to some, but it's only because I was really surprised by how good this app is. Not to mention that it's also one of the less costly ones.
This is a piece of junk. -- The links in your HTML emails are NOT stored in the PDF as links!
So say bye bye to the URLs in all your links. Ridiculous.
I'm very, very disappointed with this software. -- What's the point of adding a "save a message as PDF" feature (added recently), if it does exactly the same as the "Print | Save as PDF" standard Mac command?!
