It's about time someone developed an app to handle Menu Bar icons. I did find that a few app icons that that didn't appear in the Bartender submenu right away (Ecouté, NotesTab, Twitterific), but logging out and back in rectified that. I would also suggest an option that makes the Bartender submenu disappear when clicking on another area of the screen instead of having to click its icon a second time.

The 4-star value rating is for the current price while still in beta. Other than that, a clearly well thought out and much needed solution to a problem that Apple has ignored for years.

I've tested this app and read the developers site and they're very vague about what their software actually does. There are many references in the app and on the site to "optimizing" the system, but it appears that "optimize" is being used in a general sense and not to mean "rearranging and defragmenting data to improve disk performance". At one point in testing the app, iTuneUp wanted to throttle the kextd daemon, which did not seem like a good idea. When I tried to run a full system report, it crashed. Until there is more transparency about what this app is actually doing, I'll pass.

Is this software sanctioned by MacUpdate? I'm wondering because the icon is similar to the MU site logo but not exactly the same.

Outstanding
Combines the features of multiple competing products (some suggested here under the "similar software" heading) for a great price. It's still early in its development, so I have no doubt it will improve. I'm not sure why there isn't more buzz about this software. There should be.

Great product. I've tried multiple screen-dimming apps and DA is the best I've used. This new beta seems to address some of the "ease-of-use" issues I've had with it (specifically dealing with its preferences) and a few kinks still need to be worked out, but it's definitely worth the price for those who need it.
