AVOID AT ALL COSTS, AFTER RECENTLY WASTING $25 NOW THEY WANT $10 MORE FOR A SIMPLE UPDATE (BY MOVING TO APP STORE AS THEY ONLY WAY TO UPDATE). AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'M DELETING THIS APP AND WRITING OFF MY $25. TRY TAGS INSTEAD, A MUCH BETTER MORE EFFICIENT APP WHICH DOES THE SAME THING.
The show stopper for me is that it cannot search for tags.... but I like the GUI & HUD approach, and it has some clever features. I really like Tembo (wish it had HUD)...
Great concept but not yet ready for prime time. After only a few minutes came across basic functionality issues. For example, refused to import .tif files until I changed to .tiff. No way to empty trash from within program. Basic functionality. I'm inclined to buy but don't want to spend a lot of time importing, organizing, etc., only to come across a game changer....
Also discovered tags are internal to sparkbox, not metadata, or at least does not play well with other tag programs. This is a must have for me to purchase (why waste time if not universal tagging).
If dev is following this thread, I think a great feature would be to allow user to 'link' original capture with subsequent versions... I think many photographers import from camera, open in photoshop, save as (to keep original plus version) etc... but it is often hard to track original with versions.. this is sort of like 'stacks' in aperture...
I have not downloaded nor used this program yet, but I have a basic productivity question. In list view, does iDocument have a column which shows 'tags' for each file, and can the user then make multiple file selections to apply (and/or delete) a tag in one fell swoop? Your reply is appreciated.
Watch out, this company makes it a policy to abandon long standing users and then charge for simply waiting for them to fix their software (without adding useful features I might add). I have previously spent great deal of buy time trying to work out issues with them but their customer service is one of the worst I've encountered in 20 years as a Mac user. Sometimes lousy customer service trumps buying software.
Once again Adobe does Microsoft... I buy the upgrade, install the upgrade, then use Adobe's CS4 "uninstall" app and it trashes my system and CS5... classic bumbling. And they wonder why people are flocking to Apple even with its hiccups...
Totally BUGGY with Lion 10.7.2. Plus they raised the price by 100%. Doubt if they can ever get this to work properly, nice theory but much to complicated for this applet to ever work well. App Store needs to be more diligent.
Very disappointed in their attitude toward customer relations. Purchased full version 8 months ago now have to pay another $30 (cost of LION). Contacted Pixelmator customer service and after 4 days received a curt email avoiding my polite questions with a canned response saying it is now only available at the app store. Will stick with Photoshop rather than paying essentially an annual subscription fee to these guys. Not mention is simply replicates 80% of photoshop.
Riseofchasos .... you miss the point (dude). I paid full price for a few months usage in 2011 and their customer service wouldn't even take the time to offer a reasonable response or fair consideration... pure greed and no good faith whatsoever.
So (dude) you think I should pay twice, on blind faith (cash & carry) from a company that doesn't give a hoot about its existing customers... wise up little guy.
Misha, With that logic then free photo editors are infinitely better value regardless of customer service.
You miss the point also, it's their greedy uncompromising customer service that will eventually do them in, as so many other shareware companies have over the years... look at Blockbuster as a model when you treat customers unfairly in the interest of a few bucks, you loose them... regardless of their software features. There are plenty of others and there will be more coming, and I doubt if you would pay twice for essentially only an upgrade.
Easy Timeline is simply a repackaging of Bee Docs 4 year old 2D Timeline product which they now offer as Easy Timeline while abandoning loyal customers, like me, who paid for the original and for upgrades, and now must repurchase the same old software off App Store to be compatible with Lion. I have tried to get reasonable customer service and have gotten nowhere.
Adam, you guys really haven't listened to my emails etc. over the past.
No I didn't upgrade to 3D because I only want simple 2D for occasional use.. you expand to 3D, charged upgrade (with promise to continue support for 2D users), then abandon 2D and introduce Easy Timeline which is a repackaging of 2D, and charge again. Your policies are not unfair and on top of that, you don't seem to listen or simply hear what you want to hear, like a black hole... I've already deleted 2D as I have no interest in dealing with Bee Docs any more.
While a nice idea, in practice it has flaws and limitations. Notice that it includes a "Rebuild Database" command in a pull down menu by itself. That is because Punakea does not play well with other taggers nor metadata in spotlight. Also notice the punakea folder it places within the Documents folder, it is filled with hundreds of aliases used to image the tag browser, not a good practice and depends too much on spotlight's indexing to update, and gives misleading results (like indicating tags that don't' work, not updating tag name changes and so on). It is quite primitive in my opinion with an elegant interface which does not update very well. Too many deficiences for $25!!
