Awesome piece of software, that is indispensable. As a Palm Pilot/Treonaut/Palm aficionado this is the closest thing that I have found to Palm's Graffiti. Especially for those repetitive and long text entries into logs, meeting minutes, and emails. I especially love the cross platform sync via DropBox so that all of my short cuts are universal between my Mac and iDevices. The developer is very responsive and open about features and limitations.
I've been using BusyCal on and off since it was out of Beta, mainly to correct issues produced by Syncing with iCal via other apps, such as Merlin, OfficeTime and the Missing Sync. Since MobileMe's move to CalDAV, I use it almost exclusively, but check back with iCal to insure data integrity.
I find it much easier to handle data than iCal. The list view is fantastic, especially when coupled with a search for reporting purposes. The copy/paste event is also great in the month view. The developer support is quick and timely. I put in my feature requests for advanced search criteria and date range customization for reporting and now it's on the list. Great app.
First off, I am a major mobile device user, so anything that abbreviates my typing is grossly appreciated! From my days as a PalmPilot user with Palm's Graffiti to my Treo's MobileWrite, TextExpander is the closest thing to that kind of versatile text entry functionality on the MacOS and iOS devices.
I use TextExpander everyday and almost every time I enter anything into my iPod Touch or Mac's. The shortcuts can be shared across the network to be used on any MacOS & iOS platform connected to it. This is essential if you use any type of keyword coding of calendar events (I keep 15 calendars), ToDo's (and their delegation), Note keeping (including date/time stamps and abbreviation of industry standard language - long words), and Email!!! It works system wide and in all my Mac OS apps (but only on a select apps on the iOS - which has been growing exponentially on a monthly basis).
If you are not a fan of having to type repetitive words line "Lunch", "Breakfast", "Appointment with", or "Construction Documents Phase Opinion of Probable Cost Estimate and Project Schedule", then this app is for you.
