I have used iText Pro for years and it remains my favorite text tool by far, and the free Express version was another favorite for some types of editing for a time, but "Bean" is another simple and free alternative with good options which I currently use more.
I have used iText in the "Pro" version for years, but was very frustrated that there was not a Universal Binary version available. This had caused me to recently start using Bean (another simple and excellent text tool with good options) far more often than iText. I just found out through a comment on that app's page that the developer has created a UB version of "iText Pro '08" as well as iText Express, which is available at:
Although English language documentation is lacking, and I still need to update many preferences and tweaks with the new program, it works fine, and I am once again entirely content with my favorite word processor.
