A very nice, cool upgrade. But what else could be expected from Lemkesoft's GC… I mean, really? I've grown to trust these developers like no other. They rarely speak beta or offer ill-conceived upgrades. I've now played around with GC7 for a few hours and am quite impressed. I especially like the new file window toolbar that make so many adjustments MUCH easier, as is the new preference settings… which are a snap. $25 for an upgrade such as this is money well spent, as far as I'm concerned. If you're on the fence with getting this… get it! It's the next generation of one of the best, easy to use graphic programs I out there. Not at all sure what the few nay-sayers are talking about. Thinking they belong to those who long for the days of OS9.
With Snow Leopard, this update is indeed very touchy, specifically in assigning scroll wheel speed for various apps, which is all over the place depending on the app. Global assignment works only for the finder itself. Took some time, but now have all working as with 3.1, which I would have gone back to, were it only possible! Suggest anyone running 10.6 to wait for the next update, which I can only hope will take care of this and other issues discussed. Otherwise, I must say... I do love my little Marathon Mouse and Wave Keyboard. To paraphrase another, great hardware, problematic software.
I don't know, seems many of the reviews I've read here are a bit off the chart nit-picky with their complaints. For me, wanting only a nice functional newsreader, this update is great and now has many functions that I have not seen before nor have been able to find in any other Mac program. Having now paid for the update, I have few complaints... the main one being that many of the features do not have keystroke options, which would enable me to program my mouse buttons to perform. But that aside, I'm quite happy with this update!
Like others, I was quite disappointed that FinderPop doesn't yet work with Snow Leopard... I even uninstalled 10.6 and went back to 10.5, as I'm a contextual menu kind of guy. But with FolderGlance, I'm back in. A very nice alternative, though still looking forward to FinderPop's eventual upgrade...
I'd almost gave a 5 star rating due to FolderGlance's need to have a key stoke for copying or alas creation. Prefer FinderPop's window that pops up for these options. Though, really... that's a minor, nitpicky thing. Perhaps it's just that I'm not yet used to the change?
As for the $20... Heck, that's cheap for all FolderGlance does. (Still amazed that FinderPop was free!)
Not sure what the problem is for others, I got and subsequently paid for this app a few weeks ago and I works great on my Intel iMac running 10.5 (Can't yet say about 10.6). I had been using MT-NewsWatcher, but that's quite out of date now... seems lost in the abyss. As for feedback from the source, I sent a query to unison@panic.com and got my answer a few days later. I'm recommending this for anyone wanting a simple, clean newsreader that's able to download whatever you like. If there's a better newsreader around, I'd like to know!
