I loved Text Expander, until I found out that it simply can't work with Open Office (I wish I'd knew about this BEFORE buying it !... )
Here is the answer from the tech support : "OpenOffice does not refresh the clipboard at the time of paste as a well-behaved Java application should do. Instead, it just copies it in when you switch to OpenOffice and (incorrectly) assumes it never changes. NeoOffice handles the clipboard properly, so you might want to check it out, as it's much better-behaved with respect to TextExpander."
As I don't like the way Neo Office handles the fonts, I've kept Open Office and tried to put it on the "Text Expander's ignore list", but I can't do this either and it won't work because "OpenOffice is Java and it doesn't respond the same as other applications to go on the ignore list. I'm not sure it can be ignored in a Java application. I'll mark this as a bug so it can be investigated." (support)
Again, I whish I knew this before buying it...
