Unlike 3.6 to 4.0 upgrade - this upgrade has an $18 charge :( So I think - OK, worth it for new features. Guess what? There are none. The only difference, says their rep, is that the app is now Universal & will work with Lion. Thanks for nothing Edline. Unless you need the new OS it seems you won't need this either. Had to fill out the stars/review again so I give it .5 for value. OTOH the $18 is for physical delivery - maybe they will (eventually) but up a free updater download.
Love this app - use it weekly to deliver on-line tests of all kinds - with embedded video or audio, it just rocks! They should not pretend it is decent for printed tests, however - fuggetaboutit.
I hope they add features soon - for example, disabling the back arrow is a no brainer & should already have been done.
Much harder up wished for would be ability to include TWO multi-media items - say audio AND a jpeg - but maybe that is not possible?
I do know this is rock solid -- if you want to deliver on-line, this is a product that has no peers!
Caveat - I never made the paid upgrade to V6 as I only list a few itmes a month at best.
Meanwhile seems to me like feature creep aka bloat has set in, but I guess they figured their market was people who try to live off ebay rather than average user.
I guess this mirrors the crummy ebay strategy itself - more business angle, less hobbyist angle.
You can't complain about support - they have a mailing list and are very responsive. Most 'problems/complaints' using it are often confusion implementing trickier features of the app, again a result of developer decision to forge ahead by adding more.
They left me behind by requiring paid upgrade - but I still love the app and use it weekly to making a handful of ebay listings. If you do that or more this is a good initial purchase.
Can't say enough about this app! Took me only a few minutes to decide to buy a year ago Right now I think it is again special cheap. Great great support and the upgrades in the past year have been fantastic. I don't know about Sirius etc, but for radio streams this things is a must-have! Thanks Catpig!
Positive rankings aside - this is a dead duck. Edline is only interested in selling the web-based solution to schools and districts - single user sales are doomed. They dropped any support. I doubt there will be future upgrades. A real pity. Meanwhile - this is STILL the best stand-alone app for teachers - but it seems the whole concept is disappearing. Sad when goot apps get bought out by companies that don't care....
Used it for years - best and fastest.search.ever! Clean & felxible if you don't care about html display where it sometimes chokes BUT - a big but- ridiculous price, including for upgrades. I wont pay for v.6 after $30 for v.5 Poor integration w/ Mac OS, steep price, almost zero support. Cut the price include lifetime upgrades and the app won't die the death it seems doomed to die. A real pity, because it could have a niche.
Discounted for educators, so I could not pass it up. Great support. Love the snapshot feature - that & account switching made it for me. And this - I like to keep my email opne & use my browser for other things - this makes it easy. Glad to see upgrades - this app deserves a good future
