SOHO Organizer
Paulkeleher commented on 13 Jan 2010
I posted on October 17th recounting all my problems with this software. I was a long time customer of Chronos as Personal Organizer was great but with SOHO Organizer they lost their way. Early versions were completely useless, but with the hype surrounding Version 8 I went back to them. What a mistake! It never worked properly and I couldn't get any customer support - as I said on October 17th. I persevered but by December 2nd I gave up and asked for a refund. Needless to say I got no reply - the same story as with other requests for help. I'd consigned Chronos to the dustbin of history but today I've just received this: -

"As you may have noticed, we've been slow in responding to support tickets the past few months. We've had some problems, and as of December 31, 2009, our main support engineer is no longer with the company. We're now trying to get caught up on the large queue of tickets and need your help"

and they asked me to delete any duplicate tickets I've created. So no reply for 6 weeks now except a desperate request for me to help them clear up their own mess.

Well I suppose they deserve credit for at east trying to respond to the deluge of complaints they've had because their software doesn't really work properly - or at all - but it's a lost cause surely?

Obviously Organizer works - sometimes and for some people, but I wonder how many who posted positive comments early on then ran into the same bugs that I did? I do feel sorry for Chronos as clearly they're trying, but it's simply really; if you want to pay a lot of money for a product that probably won't work and for which there is no customer support and no chance of a refund - then go ahead.

SOHO Organizer

I strongly recommend you do not buy this software! I was a long time user of Personal Organizer and was excited when Chronos went Cocoa. However the first edition of SoHo for OSX was a joke, it was so devoid of functionality. I waited until eventually Version 8 was announced as the compete product - it had only taken Chronos what, 4 years to catch up with the 'new' OS. I should have been warned off by that inexcusable delay. I even pr-ordered Version 8 thinking it had to be the one. In fact it is slow, cumbersome, ugly - which really takes some doing for a Mac product - but what's really inexcusable is it doesn't even work properly. For example, try editing phone numbers in a contact. As you delete them it merrily creates duplicates instead - after hanging for ages - which then sync, messing up your MobileMe account too and then any other device syncing as well; it's like buying your very own virus. I've no doubt sometimes it will work for some people, but it is not safe, solid software and it should not be on sale as guaranteed to work. I've tried to delete all traces of SoHo but I'm not sure my computer has recovered yet.
If that weren't enough customer support is a joke. I've posted questions and had to wait 18 days for even a reply, never mind a solution. I've tried to request help and got not reply and my request for a refund fall on deaf ears. Somewhere the developers of this software disappeared up a blind alley; don't follow them.
