If your MacBook Pro is constantly situated on 1000 MHz, you might want to put your battery in your computer. There is an important flaw with the Intel Core Duo that turns OFF the dynamic clocking of the processor if the battery is not present, and is staticly clocked to 1 GHz. Once you put the battery in, it starts with dynamic clocking.
