Transmission is by far the overall best bittorrent client on the Mac. I have used it since the very first release. Unfortunately I noticed recently my ISP would throttle my speed whenever I use Transmission. It took me a while to figure it out and in the end I had to resort to using Vuze, the only Mac bittorrent client that allows me to download and upload without my speed being throttled by my ISP. I hope eventually I can go back to Transmission.
Nice little app. I don't think other apps such as Handbrake does a better job. Sure you may not be able to adjust as many settings but I never touch them anyway as I mostly used it to convert MTS to MP4 so I can edit in iMovie.
I have been a long time Transmission user. However, recently AT&T started throttling P2P traffic and after much research and trial and error, Vuze was the only thing that worked for me. It's not the best looking or the easiest to use but it works.
I have multiple Macs, all of them Intel except for a 12" PowerBook G4 that my girlfriend and I use for casual browsing. Because this PowerBook is slower than all of our other Macs, we decided to use Camino because it seems to be the fastest browser on this computer. We run Safari and/or FireFox on all the other Macs.
If iTunes 7.0 crashes after the agreement screen and gives you -50 error, simply add iTunes to your exclude list in ShapeShifter and it should worked fine.

I'm not sure what Vuze does differently : I also tried uTorrent and BitTorrent prior to settling on Vuze and the latter was the only one that worked.

Settings Plus for Camino
It's a shame that this plug-in is Intel only.
