Took a long time to sift through all the other suites available to do what I wanted to do: record and display as much detail as possible about my family and the families of composers I admire and am studying.
MacFamilyTree was by far the most fully-featured, visually-appealing and easiest to use when I completed that process several years ago.
Since then it's grown in almost every way into a truly mature, comprehensive and versatile program that is very easy indeed to use - yet full of great power.
On those few occasions when I have had cause to contact the developers for one reason or another over the years, they have always been quick, thorough, friendly and helpful in every way - always solved whatever problem I have.
When a company has such responsive, professional and downright helpful folks as those at Agile have been during my slow (but - thanks to them - pretty pain free) conversion process of over 800 passwords from an older product to 1Password, you know you've made the right choice.
Not for nothing is 1Password considered the industry standard.
Elegant, easy to use and reliable, it's certainly a good first choice.
After reading the negative reviews of MUD 5 I was really wary.
I decided to go ahead (in part because of the excellent, friendly and quick replies I got from the developers: it couldn't be all bad with that kind of interaction, could it?).
I've not been disappointed.
In the first place, I've experienced none of the crashes, annoyances, hangs or other malfunctions described here.
Secondly, it's easier to use than VTP (which has really gone downhill lately)
And it's more accurate and comprehensive. In the first few runs it found 26 outdated items which VTP has (always) missed.
It's also got much more flexibility: I can choose only to download; I can choose where to download to; I can choose to have emails; I can choose not to have 'annoying popups' etc.
All in all, utterly reliable and a great alternative - and cheaper than VTP.

Recommended on every count.
Definitely the best!

The features are appropriate to the several ways it can be used - in a variety of contexts.
It's well thought out, nicely designed; and the developer is exceptionally responsive.
It's also software that's gaining new features and functionality. For its field in language learning, it's hard to beat.
