I'm not sure if it's a Growl issue or a Camino issue, but turning off notifications for download started and short download completed (and I'm assuming the other two as well) has no effect. The moment I download something, the checkboxes go back to being checked. I haven't reproduced this behavior with other apps yet (haven't tried, that is).
And I agree, HardwareGrowler should be made not to have a Dock icon. In the meantime, I'm glad Dockless still works on 10.7.3.
In the search results window, if the filename is long enough, it will overlap the magnifying glass icon.
Also, there is no option to search all volumes. At the risk of making the input window too cluttered, checkboxes for each individual volume, plus a button to check/uncheck all volumes, would offer much more flexibility than a pull-down menu.
I'm not sure what the rationale is for having the input window be HUD, but not the search results window. I'm not knocking it, I'm just curious.
And I'll say the same thing I said about EasyFind: I prefer a search app that doesn't show up in the Dock, and can be accessed at any time via the Menubar or a hotkey (preferably the latter, if not both).
Clicking on the System tab of the Preferences causes the window to freeze, but you can still quit out of the app via the Menubar icon.
App will often disappear from my Login Items list during reboot, and not launch. It's the only Login Item that does this. I'm guessing it's related to the first bug...?
Forgot to mention, this is v2.6.1b, which is newer than what MacUpdate has as its latest beta. I downloaded it directly from the developer's website. If you follow the comments on their website, they claimed this version fixed the freezing issue, but unfortunately, it didn't.
I've hated Spotlight since it was first introduced. I hate the idea of using hard drive space for indexing, and half the time it doesn't even find what I'm looking for. With Tiger, it was possible to disable Spotlight and revert to a filename search. That doesn't seem to be the case with Lion. I hate it, but I left it on, because a search function that works half the time is better than one that doesn't work at all.
This app is a godsend, because it means I can disable Spotlight completely. One thing I would love to see though, is for this app to be one that users leave running all the time - no icon in the Dock, access via Menubar, etc. Having to install something like Spark just to be able to launch EasyFind via hotkey is kind of a drag (I don't really need Spark for anything else), as is having to launch via the Dock (or Launchpad, ugh).
Nice little program. I haven't really done a thorough comparison to SoundSource, to which this app is very similar. They're both small enough that it probably isn't necessary. Although, since it's a regular app, you don't have to reboot or use an app that can force empty the Trash in order to be completely rid of it.
The Menubar icon is too big and detailed though. IMHO it looks out of place next to...well, just about every other Menubar icon. Not as bad as SoundSource's icon sometimes appearing as a big black square, I suppose, but close.
Curious why so many MBP owners installed this, when it isn't for the MBP. AFAIK, it's only for the new standalone aluminum keyboard Apple introduced this week.
After updating to 10.4.9, I now have to hold down the Eject key for half a second to get the optical drive tray to eject. I don't remember this being the case for me with 10.4.8.
Flip4Mac seems to do a better job of playing WMV files than MPlayer OSX, although MPlayer OSX opens WMV files noticeably faster. Also, does MPlayer have a browser plug-in, or do you have to type the URL into the player? That alone makes Flip4Mac worth having.
It took several launches to get this to work in 10.7.3. First (automatic) launch after install, the Spotlight and Menu checkboxes stayed checked no matter what, and there was no menu. Quit and relaunch, and the Spotlight checkbox could be unchecked, but not the Menu checkbox, and still there was no menu. Third time, everything worked normally.
Aside from that little bit of weirdness, multiXFinder is great!
With autoplay turned on, when I try to view a YouTube video, there seems to be a duplicate of the video playing in the background where I can't see the player and stop it. The background video always starts playing first, so I can't watch the video in the foreground without hearing the audio twice - once early, once with the foreground video.
Not sure what's going on, but I get a message at launch saying the permissions settings or other part of the security component has been damaged, and it must repair itself. But it never does, and I keep getting that message at every launch. Repairing permissions doesn't fix it.
In the short time it took for the component to get damaged, I didn't run many apps, so maybe I'll be able to figure out which one is the culprit.
I hadn't updated in a while, so I updated my G5 to this latest version. There is no longer an option to load the WMV before playing, and whether or not I'm playing the WMV as it's loading, it takes much, much longer to load now, like 10x longer at least (it seems like, the larger the file, the slower it loads). I need to see if I can re-install the older version.
Transmission has always had more lag than other clients when pausing - I don't like it, but I don't expect to see it change anytime soon. However, a new bug that's popped up for me is the red star that appears on the Dock icon when a download has finished - specifically, it does not always go away like it is supposed to when Transmission is brought to the foreground.
According to the Scorched 3D website, it requires OpenAL. I'm not too keen on installing it, since I've heard nothing about it (and the latest version is pretty old).
Great browser, although right-click saving seems to take a long time. Downloads seem to stall for a second or two after the Downloads window appears. This even happens when saving images from websites, which should be immediate since you're saving from the browser's cache, right?
