I am trying it with Photoshop 12.0.2 but it does not shop up.
The FAQ at the developer site states to disable an option present in every open/save dialog but I cannot find that option.
Can you please help?
I like to get the bundle just for this one and 1password.
Just got this by email, followed the instructions and it works!
I'm afraid that advice no longer applies in CS5 - Adobe has changed Photoshop so you access its custom dialog via the "Browse in Bridge" command in the file menu. So, if Default Folder X isn't working in Photoshop, it's not because you have its file dialogs configured incorrectly. Instead, you've probably got a corrupted Default Folder X preference file. Please try using the steps below to delete your prefs file so Default Folder X can create a new one. I think that will fix your problem.
Sorry for the trouble.

To delete Default Folder X's preference file:
1. Take note of any Default Folder X Favorites and preference settings you've made, since they will be erased when you perform this procedure.
2. Open System Preferences, select Default Folder X, and turn it off. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. If you do not turn off Default Folder X first, it will simply write damaged preference data into a new preference file after you delete the old one.
3. Quit System Preferences.
4. Open a new window in the Finder and go to your home folder. Within that, locate and open the Library folder, and within that, open the Preferences folder.
5. Find the file named "com.stclairsoft.DefaultFolderX.plist" in the Preferences folder and throw it in the Trash.
6. Open System Preferences, reconfigure any settings you need, enter your registration code and turn Default Folder X back on.
Going to buy the bundle...
