TechTool Pro

Basic features are OK but the disk defrag function is very slow and does not like power saver features enabled on a Mac. Loosing one disk to it's crash is enough. I'm thankful for Time Machine and Disk Warrior.

PhoneValet Home Edition

I'm a long time user of Parliant products and constantly use their products. When I have a problem, which is infrequently because I read the instructions, I have an answer the next day.

I now use the Phone Valet Message Centre to manage 3 phone lines. I make an effort to not do business calls on any other phone than those managed by Phone Valet.

Parliant, please make an iPhone app just to manage the call records and to record certain calls automatically.

After having paid for and used Daylite, Now Contact (including Nighthawk), Contactizer Pro, ACT 2.8 for the Mac, SOHO Organizer and many others, this wins my vote as the best of the free PIM's or CRM programs. It even beats most of the paid versions.

The only negatives are:
1) when you have more than 3,000 contacts, it is fairly slow starting up;
2) I've tried to integrate it with PhoneValet with no success...I like having my contact files pop up when my Mac receives the caller ID from an incoming call. Then I can personalize my greetings;
3) syncing and updating is an issue but not the fault of the designers. This is based on a Filemaker run time.

The design is very well thought out, well executed and I wish I could afford to have the developers customize this for me. Right now I'm staying with Daylite only because it integrates my incoming calls and email but I'd leave it in a second if this product filled the gaps.

Great work!
