This is an impressive program! There are two features it has that I value greatly - I have sought the first in vain in other programs:
1) The ability to save the ssh password in the Mac OS keychain
2) Low profile presence in the menubar.
Why not 5 stars?
1) Stability. While configuring it for multiple tunnels the interface froze, and I had to quit from Activity Monitor.
2) Ease of use. It's pretty undocumented, although I can't say I had any real trouble configuring it.
3) This is a little quibble, but it's still important to me. When this program creates a tunnel, the password is displayed in clear text on the process list. I suspect this is because of the way the program passes the password off to ssh, but it is a security concern.
Finally, a feature request would be to change the color of the icon to show connection status.
On the whole, I'm delighted and I look forward to seeing this project grow.
Didn't work for me, but I didn't try very hard. I really want a solution that doesn't require me to open an account with someone else - I just want to be able to configure a secure connection between two computers that I own. When I saw that this solution only works through their servers my interest in spending more than the half hour I did spend went away.
My experience is a little different than the bulk of these reviews. I actually found Clips to be very useful, and I had discontinued the use of a different clipboard management program. Unfortunately, the program puts itself in demo mode if you don't let it report home, even after you've registered it. This is not acceptable (I have worked in places where I don't have regular or reliable Internet access) and I won't have a program like this in my regular toolset. Pity.
I'm not reviewing this software because I wanted to comment on some of the other reviews, and because Backuplist+ does everything I need it to do. Several people have complained about the difficulty of synchronizing two folders using backup software. While that is generally true, Backuplist+ puts a pretty face on the *nix rsync tool that is designed for directory synchronization. It's free, can be scheduled, etc.
In any case, I'm not knocking File Synchronization, because I haven't tried it (at least, not lately), but I can do what I need to do free with Backuplist+.
I also found that the developer of Backuplist+ (whose name escapes me at the moment - something French, I believe) responded quickly and helpfully when I had a question about how to use the program.
I was posting because people complained that there was not a free program that did what they needed done. I was providing information for the users here at MacUpdate, not speaking specifically about the strengths or weaknesses of File Synchronization. I have to be careful how I spend my money, so finding a free alternative to a paid program makes a big difference to me. I'm sure a Lexus really is better than my car, but I don't have the money to find out. File Synchronization really may be much better than Backuplist+, but I don't need anything better. I really don't care how many hours you've spent on this program over its lifetime - it is of no importance to me whatsoever, though it is apparently important to you. I hope it is of equal importance to your wife.
That said, my post is not completely useless. The reason to note a free alternative is the same as the purpose of those little icons right above the review area. MacUpdate is a forum for computer users to share information about software used to solve specific problems. If you think your scratch-built engine works better than rsync, that's fine - sell it on those merits. If you think your program works better than other available programs, that's great! For my software needs I have found a free alternative that does everything I need it to do. There are certainly other users with different needs, and I hope that many of them just can't accomplish what they need done without paying you $15 for your program, but those who don't need everything your program presumably provides can do better for free.
The suggested alternative isn't one, because it is for Mac OS X, rather than for iPhone OS. I have not yet tried this game, but I would suggest an alternative: Card Shark Lite. I am not suggesting it with the idea that it is in any way superior, but rather because it has a different selection of possible game types. Unfortunately, MacUpdate doesn't know about it, so I can't give you a direct link. FWIW, the game types I play most are Canfield and Freecell.
Having just come from another free recipe manager that was only a step above index cards I'm impressed with Mama Meera's Cookbook. Ingredients are listed separately, with separate fields for quantity and measure. Although it's not yet implemented, this would lend itself to easy scaling of recipes in the future, or automatic calculation of nutritional information.
The coverflow interface is nice, if you have pictures of your food, and it is comfortingly "Mac-like". Although it won't calculate nutritional information for you (unlike the non-free MacGourmet) it does allow you to enter this information for each recipe. Also provided is tracking of the number served, which is nice for meal planning.
All in all, Mama Meera's Cookbook, despite a rather cumbersome name ;-) is a capable start for a free recipe/cooking program, and it may eventually become a serious contender with the commercial apps already available.
I really liked MaNGOsX, and have yet to see how well I will like Arcemu as an engine, but I thought I would put together some thoughts as to how to get things working.
First, if you want to use the default MySQL installation, just move (or link, or copy) the database folders to /usr/local/mysql/data/ and set the ownership and permissions to match the other folders there. Alternatively, you could do a SQL dump of the databases from MAMP and then import them into MySQL's default using the tools of your choice.
Secondly, since I don't want something like this using root access to my database (and since I don't want root access to have the password "root") I suggest editing the configuration files in /server/etc/. This is where you can change the settings of the arcemu engine to look for the database where you specify and with the user you specify.
Finally, I found that the program wouldn't run because it was linking to a library that wasn't present on my system: libpcre.0.dylib. It was looking in /usr/lib/. I found the necessary library in a Plex distribution and copied it from the internal Frameworks folder there to my /usr/lib folder. It works.
I'm currently troubleshooting some issues with the DBC files - it claims an inconsistency with the Spells.dbc - but I ran out of drive space during the initial install and hope that reinstalling the affected files now, having cleared up some space, will help.
Finally, make sure your client is patched to the same level as the server you install. It's nice that the ArceMux program not only tells you this, now, but also gives you a choice of two alternatives: 3.1.3 and 3.2.0.
Thanks, Jeremy Meile! (Though your site could be a little less frustrating :P ) The only other thing I could ask for at this point would be the ability to download the files implicated in 2.4.3 again, if I decide I want the Kirin Tor back in Dalaran...
The actual download link doesn't work. There are a couple of places that still host this: Fileplanet, though I often have trouble getting stuff from them.

I find that comparative comments help me determine what software will meet my needs.
Here's hoping your day gets better.
