I like what calibre allows me to do, which is to convert my DeDRM'ed Kindle files into RTFs and PDFs. (Though it is a bit overkill for this purpose but it's the only game in town.)
On the other hand, I just want to say I began experience UPGRADE FATIGUE with regard to calibre maybe a year or two ago.
Seeing these constant updates makes me on one level wish calibre didn't exist at all.
Maybe the software release team could consolidate milestones into a PLANNED release cycle that update once (or twice at most) per quarter?
While this software really is the best eBay software for Mac, it is only incrementally better than the native eBay web interface.
Editing in Preview mode is horrific. You thought Word was bad, GarageSale makes common tasks such as indenting text, modifying paragraphs, and adding/removing bulleted lists worse than going to the dentist. The software defies all conventions when it comes to editing text.
There are also small niggling things, like the fact that when one inserts a link, the fields in the sheet that appears cannot be tabbed through.
The software also suffers from some poorly grouped functionality. It's not immediately clear where to add details such as shipping information and/or what information is being used. Duplicating an auction will copy shipping settings from the auction but this information will silently contradict the information shown in the inspector.
This software provides an essential service for people who use eBay a lot, but it needs some serious work in terms of usability.
This app is billed as compatible with Snow Leopard which is only partly true. At present, I cannot add new icons, though I can apply old ones. Also, Candybar 3.2 seems unable to see and edit NTFS icons.
I'm going to chime in on this one, too. I have the 6.6.1rb SilverFast software for the Epson Expression 10000. The cost of admission for this piece of software was over $300 and it was very buggy in Leopard 10.5.4 through 10.5.8. It stopped working over Firewire in Snow Leopard though, as another poster has commented, Apple's bundled Image Capture can see my scanner plain as day.
My advice is to stay away from SilverFast. Their foundation is aged and creaking and the only hope is that another company will see the gap and step in.
I tried the 3D version several months back and decided that the 3D walkthroughs were too fiddly to create and that I preferred to showcase portions of my timeline using Keynote.
Forcing the crossgrade is acceptable only if the price is modest and if the developer makes a serious effort in fixing the bugs the software has with editing data and attributes.
I'm very close to providing a detailed review of this software that would rank this software at two stars: good concept, aesthetically pleasing, buggy implementation.
A Java-based freehand sketch tool that cannot mark up other items, presenting disconnected freehand "notes"? 1998 called and they want their widget back.
You also sorely need arbitrarily assignable due dates. Seriously, a "To Do" page that appears every day a file is opened as opposed to one that can be constructed in advance?
Silly me, wanting to plan my days in advance of their arrival!

CandyBar
Is this still possible? I'm asking because I cannot figure out how to change Finder.app's icon atm.

Restart CandyBar and accept update. Icon for the Finder will again be visible System Icons > Dock Icons.
THANKS PANIC!!!

WebArchive Extractor succeeded where another similar utility goofed.

SAFT's functionality is must-have and when it was the only game in town, we all tolerated the slow updates.
Now that Glims is available I can say things like SAFT is bad software and not spend time being redundant.
