Apple Aperture

Minoumi reviewed on 22 May 2011
I have been using iPhoto since the day it was launched; it's an essential basic tool for today's digital photography. But I recently "upgraded" to Aperture 3 from the App Store. Who can resist such a low price for a top notch photography software? I have worked many years with Photoshop as a graphic designer and the first thing I noticed when I browsed through the Aperture features and tools is that I don't need Photoshop, Elements or any other photo adjustment software (If I ever feel the need to "create" some new images/designs, I will use Pixelmator). That's great news considering the crazy prices Adobe is charging. So, I am very much satisfied with my purchase. I transferred my iPhoto library to Aperture without a glitch. It may not be perfect to some but, knowing Apple, it's on the right way… Oh, one more thing: the "Aperture 3 User Manual" is amazingly well written and covers all bases, as well as the online support.

VueScan

Minoumi reviewed on 18 Jan 2011
It covers every possible situations. I can rely on this software because it is regularly updated and has been around for quite a while. The price is right. The documentation is extremely well done and complete. I have the Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner and am very satisfied with the results I obtain with my various workflows (prints, slides/pos, films/negs). My only wish would be that the documentation contains more workflow advices regarding this particular scanner, but then the software's aim is to drive many machines and that's fine with me. My opinion, of course.

1Password DOES indeed work with iCab. Sorry for my previous erroneous post.

1Password does not appear to work with iCab, the best browser on the Planet. Or is it only me?

Pixelmator

Minoumi reviewed on 04 Apr 2009
I finally trashed bloated and heavy Photoshop Elements 6. Pixelmator may be a bit pricey but it's worth it and I hope these young developers keep up the good work. I am in for the long haul. I have been a serious amateur photographer for the past 50 decades and Pixelmator is the tool for me. Fast, well-designed, snappy, beautiful, efficient and truly Mac software. Simply awsome.

iFamily for Leopard

Minoumi reviewed on 09 May 2008
The developer (Keith Wilson) is quite correct when he says that iFamily creates HTML web pages like no other genealogy application. This feature was crucial for me and I am very satisfied with the results.

iFamily is a no bells and whistles software. It simply does the job efficiently. I have tried several Mac genealogy demo applications and iFamily came out as the best for my needs. And the price is right!
