Before more people start give out bad reviews (I see it's already happened), realize this is a beta. It's "release candidate 1". Not a final version.
WIth that out of the way, so far there are a few annoying bugs.
1. Lion-native full-screen mode isn't as smooth of a transition as VLC's old full-screen mode. If this bothers you, do don't worry. It's an option you can change in the Preferences.
2. Changing the volume appears to have some delay or lag. You change the volume, and it actually takes effect somewhere between 0.5 and 1.0 second later. Very annoying, but again, this is beta still.
3. Default volume starts at zero. Mildly annoying, but not a big deal.
This issue is apparently related to rendering subtitle fonts when playing an MKV. An mkv without any subtitles will play fine.

*** For those who's Safari crashes on launch ***
You may have a Safari Plugin that isn't compatible with the new version.
For example, I know I had Glims installed. My Safari beta 4 was crashing, so the first thing I did was remove/relocate the folder here: /Library/Application Support/Glims/
After I did that, it worked on the next launch.

If you want a great fractal-generating screensaver, this is where it's at.
