I used "Software Update..." to install this latest version of Safari, but I later went to Apple's site and found there are two versions of 5.1.2; one for SL and one for Lion. Since the problematic Mac was running SL, I downloaded the SL version and reinstalled.
After rebooting, things seem fine, so far.
Also, I don't use any Safari extensions. Appreciate the comments nonetheless, Cowicide.
Note: I don't know if SU got the running OS wrong or this was just a coincidental issue, but I post it in case anyone else has a similar experience.
Purchased this for .99 via the App Store and PayPal. Apple charged me eight (8) times for the same purchase, but calling PayPal I was quickly able to get the proper credits.
(A week later Apple acknowledged the error was theirs by email).
I was excited by the then glowing reviews for this app, but after a few days use I found its use was making my Mac very unstable and have since stopped using it.
There is no such thing as a free lunch (or even a .99 one) so my advice is caveat emptor.
Alas, it did not work on this Mac [iMac 2.4 GHz, 10.6.8 3GB RAM] but I'll do some testing on other Macs on the network and report back if I see other results.
On an iMac 2.4Ghz, OS X 10.6.8, I was only able to install this in multi-user mode. The pref pane would not show up in System Preferences in single-user install mode.
Superb and useful free application. Of course, the usual whiners here, but for those in need of a functional, flexible and customizable watermarking application, this seems ideal.
Plus, despite what you read in the reviews here, the free version is indeed editable.
Kudos to the developer and thank you! Please ignore the negative remarks and continue. Some of us really do appreciate your efforts.

I went to Mozilla.org to get the actual 10.0 dmg.
Admins might want to fix that link.

Hopefully, for your sake, this is just a local problem, but if anyone has any tips or thoughts about fixing, please feel free to reply.
Thanks in advance and I hope you have better luck than I do.

Much appreciated to see a simple way to do this on OS X, especially for any morons like me.

Great addition to the OS X toolbox. For me, this has more uses than I could even begin to explain.
Only problem is the cost. : )

LastPass Safari Extension
I have a safety deposit box, multiple computers, not all of which are online and many offsite options to store them.
If we have not learned already how porous web security models can be, I don't know that we ever will.
In short, even the idea of storing any of my data "in the cloud" is one this luddite finds incredibly naive.
YMMV
