LaTeXiT looks lovely but it requires installing LaTeX. The problem is, the MacTeX distrib is a big whooping 1.2GB install (see: http://www.tug.org/mactex/ ).
Apple's Grapher meets most of my needs but I'd be interested in trying LaTeX. Anyone can explain me why LaTeX needs that much memory, and if there is an alternative distrib with a smaller footprint?

VLC Media Player

QuickTime, MplayerX, Mplayer OSX Extended, Perian, Movist, they have all come a long way and make great progress. They're all great software.
But VLC is still king of the hill.
Now if only we could have a really stable build once.. ;)

Can someone provide feedback on this? Have you seen improvements?

Adobe Lightroom
The new luma noise filter is also very very good. It's not magical, but used with the existing color noise filter you can save a lot of photos.
All in all, it makes it much more possible to use high ISO than before.

SL-NTFS
You're probably better off with MacFuse+NTFS-3G or Paragon NTFS, both of which are tested, reliable. Also Paragon NTFS has good performance I hear.
Ukelele
The problem was, my original keyboard was french (azerty), and the new one was english (qwerty).
So, i switched the plastic keys to mimic a french keyboard. And then I created a custom layout with Ukelele to sort everything out.
Thanks Ukelele!
MagicPrefs

Tunesify Lite
But in the mean time, use Max/XLD/xACT. More features, more mature code, good performance.

Don't you know if there are TeX packages with a smaller footprint?
Also, it just can't be 1.2GB of pure code, is it? Even fonts don't take that much memory..

Toast Titanium
Toast hangs while ntfs-3g CPU usage skyrockets.
Unmounting ntfs drives seems to solve the issue, still a bummer.
Anyone had a similar experience?
