Via JollysFastVNC, I'm *finally* able to connect to my father's PC remotely (very cool)...something that CotVNC would never seem to do (always timed-out first). CotVNC is relatively quick on my home LAN connecting to PCs.
I'm quite sure it is something I haven't gotten configured correctly, but JollysFastVNC (v0.96.6 & prior) is quite a bit slower in updating my Intel MacBook Pro screen. From a previous post, I tried connecting to the ethernet-connected PC next to my MacBook via the 192.168... address, but is is equally slow.
Any thoughts on what I can do to get to the point of realizing speed that the others enjoy?
Thank you, Maketso
Using HamachiX (v0.9 1B3 24) and OSXvnc (v1.71) in Mac OS 10.4.11. CotVNC is v2.0b2.
PS. I have the window displaying in 50% size. I haven't been able to get anything but a white screen displayed in 100% size. The "server type" is set to "Other" for each PC, and the "Color Depth" is set to "16 bit". Everything else is "Default".
PSS. When first logging-in to any of the PCs (local or remote), it takes several minutes to get a screen image displayed. On the RealVNC server running on each PC, I have removed the wallpaper & background patterns.
Thank you for both of your replies, as well as for your invitation to continue troubleshooting. I'll track down your email address and explore a solution with you a bit more...thank you.
I should have mentioned that I did already have the Server Type configured as "Other".
Can JollyFastVNC run as a server on a PC?
Thanks again, Maketso
