I got an e-mail from Metakine today saying that only this weekend, until June 19, 2011, I can transfer my license of DVDRemaster 7.0 to the Mac App Store for $4.99 (or € 3.99 in my case, for European users).
Though I did feel a bit compelled (as in: why should I pay for this since I already have a license for DVDRemaster Pro), a sense of urgency , brought on by, as the email states, the "limited time opportunity" to "transfer my license" to the MAS,
made me decide to do so (also because I will be too busy this weekend to contact Metakine and ask them about this hurry to transfer in this way the license to the MAS on such short notice, even with the incentive of 90% off the price.)
After downloading from the MAS and restarting, I now have version 7.0.3 (!), where before I had 7.0.4. As mentioned, I already had a license for DVDRemaster Pro. After restarting, there now is no mention of a license or my name, as licensee. Maybe because from now on it is being handled by the Mac App Store?
Anyway, I am wondering when I will be able to again update (via the MAS) to V 7.0.4 again...
Just started to try the demo. And within minutes stopped because it was impossible for me to correctly set it up.
The program chose the Dutch screen/manual (OK, I do have the Dutch version of Mac OS X 10.6.3). So far so good. Then, however, I had to pick the correct keyboard. A choice of two Dutch keyboards: the one with Dutch QWERTY or with Dutch (Flemish) AZERTY layout.
It became clear that the program is not up-to-date, since the keyboard layout differed too much (e.g. the Return key) from the current Apple keyboards (mine is from last year, a Dutch chicklet-style keyboard with numerical block.
To make trying out this program comfortable enough, users should be able to pick the correct keyboard layout. Hopefully the developer will have a closer look at current layouts and add these to the preferences.
What I do like about this program is the help with correct finger position. A program like aTypeTrainer4Mac still doesn't have this possibility, as far as I know.
