Dear devs... your program is awesome but... for the love of all that is good and right in the world... please... change your icon. It is the worst icon ever conceived by mankind.
There's a bit of a glitch using Carbon Copy Cloner in Lion. After a complete cloning task is finished, once you boot into the cloned external drive, Carbon Copy Cloner appears immediately upon boot up, frozen in its previous state and causes the computer to freeze a little, forcing me to use the Force Quit function. Obviously every boot after the fact won't have this issue because CCC is now closed, it just happens after a new backup of the drive. I don't know if this has something to do with Lion's restore functionality, but it's rather annoying. This issue doesn't occur in Snow Leopard. Maybe you can have CCC input something into the backup keeping CCC from opening upon startup of the backed up drive. It's just weird.
There's no other app on the Mac like DiskWarrior. I don't particularly agree with the description, that isn't really accurate in what this utility does. Regardless, this is a must-have app to have in my collection of maintenance tools. Sure, the price is a bit high, but well worth it when it saves your arse in an otherwise inevitably terrifying hard drive situation. Awesome stuff. I run this several types a month on various drives every month. I even ran it on a friend's iPod that was going nuts and after replacing the iPod's chaotic directory with an optimized version, it now works perfectly. Didn't have to restore the iPod. It kept mounting and unmounting repeatedly... now it just runs as it should.
I had another bizarre situation when, for no reason... I could not move, copy, edit, modify, rename, or basically do anything whatsoever to any of my files on a 2TB external drive. It's like the drive was locked. Ran DiskWarrior and within 2 minutes everything was back up working perfectly again. I honestly think some sort of voodoo magic is involved here. 5 stars from me.
This is indispensable for my writing toolbox. This saves me hours of time that I'm not needlessly spending on fine-tuned details. I just press a button that performs all my custom rules and I'm done. Awesome.
Whoa... this is all getting out of hand. Anyway... this is a great utility for those that need it, but most Mac users probably won't ever find that opportunity. It does what it says and it does it well... better than other third-party options I've tested.
I only use this software several times a year for annual drive maintenance upkeep alongside other utilities such as Onyx, DiskWarrior, and simply fiddling around in Terminal (a lot of maintenance can be done in Terminal).
I don't understand all the bickering. This is most certainly not a useless app, or "snake oil", as one member put it. If you don't need it, that's fine. If you do, you know personally what it can do for you, otherwise you wouldn't have bought it in the first place. No need to fight to the death trying to prove your point.
Anyway, great and reliable app. Have been using it for years. Thanks devs.
