VirtualBox

M.Riechert reviewed on 12 Feb 2008
The new free VirtualBox Version.is excellent.I installed Windows XP Service Pack2 on it. Installation was easy and fast.I own Parallells and VMware Fusion too, which cost both about 80 dollars.
Compared to Parallels and VMware Fusion booting with VirtualBox is faster. Features are similar to Parallels and Fusion. Performance is excellent. Benchmarking with Geekbench gained an overall value of 5400. To get this value, you must have opened the free utility Crystal CPUID as overclocking tool. Stability and speed of WindowsXP were also excellent. For anybody, who is not willing to pay for Parallels and VMware Fusion VirtualBox is the first choice without any disadvantages. Compliments to the developers!

Mac Mini Core 2 Duo (Merom) with 2,16 Ghz, 2GB Ram and Mac OS X 10.4.11.

Guest PC

M.Riechert reviewed on 05 Feb 2006
At first I was very sceptically, when i bought Guest PC. I have VPC 7.02 installed on various computers, on iMac G5 1.8 GHZ, Titanium G4 400 GHZ and on 3 beige Power PC , two with Powerlogix 1 GHZ Upgrade Cards and one with a Sonnet G4 Upgrade Card.Mac Os was 10.4.4 and 10.3.9. VPC shows an acceptable speed with Windows 98 on all computers, but Windows XP was slow.
I installed Guest PC on all five computers and I was very surprised. The installation was easy and fast. Guest PC is faster on all computers with Windows 98 and Windows XP. It is stable and cheep. Perhaps some more features could be available in Guest PC.
Generally i can highly recommend Guest PC and there seems to be no reason to prefer VPC.

XPostFacto
M.riechert commented on 29 Mar 2004
XPost is one of the best utilities in the mac scene and overall it is free. For two years I tried to install on my beige PowerPC G3 with 466 Mhz ( old Formac ziff card) and 640 MB RAM and ATI Radeon 7000 at first Jaguar and then Panther without any success. The way ended with MacOs 10.1.5. Yesterday I tried xpostfacto 3.0a15 and after twenty minutes I had installed Panther on my beige G3 without any problems. I updated to 10.3.3 afterwards. The system is fast and stabile with xBench value of about 36. I am now very happy, because I can use my old beige G3 with the latest system with very good speed. Many thanks to Ryan Rempel for his outstanding marvellous work. Greetings from Munich, Germany Michael
