Mental Case

Note that a 14-day trial is available from the developer's site. Very good of the developer to offer this.

PDF Nomad

Looks excellent. I tried loading a 5000+ page PDF and I am delighted to report that it loaded and handled briskly (much faster than other PDF software I've tried). Saving changes to the document also suprisingly quick. My only criticism so far is that the demo version adds an obtrusive watermark upon save without any warning (that I could discern). Luckily I edited a backup copy. But no matter --- this looks like good, solid software that would probably be worth buying.

Thanks for the clarification. While you're correct that saving directly from the file menu is disabled in demo mode, there is a loophole: after making changes to a document, if I close it, a dialog window comes up asking whether I want to save the changes. If I select "OK", then the original file gets saved with the watermark.

Although "Alpha" is indicated clearly in the title, the download link that currently says "Beta" should also say "Alpha". It's worth being extra clear about this, because the alpha is incomplete and everyday users will want to stick with 1.x

Concentrate

This app is great. It appears that all the existing reviews are out of date (based on older versions). The app is helping me get into a more productive mode, so I'm not going to spend more time writing this review. All I can say is that the product description is accurate and I find the product useful. I started the free trial and now I'm buying. Thanks!

Anyone know what's new in 1.1? I can't find any info on the website. And I'm always a little nervous trying out apps that get access to my Google Account info.

PDFOutliner

Since there's no way to edit a review that has been submitted, I'm submitting this second one to correct the rating. As I said below, it turns out support had contacted me to resolve the problem, and therefore my review was premature. Sorry for the sloppy reviewing!

PDFOutliner

Lumac52 reviewed on 15 Aug 2011
I bought this software to add a TOC to a 4,000 page (text only) PDF. The PDF was easily viewable and searchable in Preview, but PDFOutliner is utterly unable to do anything with the document and I am must force quit the app. I contacted support a couple weeks ago but didn't receive any response.

The software works as advertized on PDFs of normal length.

Ok, turns out I missed an email from support. They did contact me. I apologize for my premature review.

Keyboard Maestro

Sheer genius. With the ability even to specify exact mouse motions, it's amazing what you can automate with this tool. (Replaces and outperforms Automator by a long shot.)
