An utterly, totally and completely incomprehensible application. And not helped at all by the total absence of any meaningful instructions as to how to use it.
Not harsh at all. This program is diabolically complex and is in no way intuitive. For a Developer to produce something so complex with absolutely no "Help" or guidance whatsoever is, in my opinion, just plain daft. Sure - it is easy enough to get it to produce random sounds. But it certainly would be nice to have a clue what all the myriad of controls, buttons, options etc are actually for, and how they are influencing and/or contributing to the final result !! Do YOU understand this application ? I doubt it !!! If you really DO understand it all, perhaps you could give us the benefit of your explanation next time !!!
He may well be a brilliant artist !! He may well be a brilliant musician as well !! But what he has created is, at present, an unintelligible piece of software that comes with no USEFUL help. Do YOU understand all the myriad options, parameters, buttons, controls, etc etc ? Or do you simply succeed, (as can anyone), in getting the software to produce random sounds ? Anyone can do that. That much is simple - as is importing a photograph into the application. But the software comes with endless options, parameters etc. Presumably the developer intended and expected that they would be USED. But if one has absolutely NO idea what they actually do, what the parameters even mean, what effect they actually have on the final result etc, then they are of no use and all one is doing is simply mucking around in total darkness producing completely random sounds !! By the way, I am not a novice in the area of music. I play many instruments well, including synthesizers. I really WOULD like to understand this software and get the most out of it. But the developer is really going to need to help a bit !!!
I cannot get this application to do ANYTHING whatsoever. I am currently endeavouring to get it to apply its gray filter to one of my images. It is now well over 10 minutes since I started and the application is telling me that 16% of the image has been done. At that rate, editing a large image will take forever and a few days !! The application is not at all intuitive and comes with absolutely no help whatsoever. Not at all inspiring. So far, IMHO, utterly useless. I am using an iMac 7,1 Core 2 Duo Intel, running MacOSX 10.5.8
Thoughts can indeed come to one at any time. Actually, the thought that came to my mind swiftly when I examined this application is that it is none too smart to advertise an application on MacUpdate as FREE when it is, in fact, nothing of the sort !!
MConvert X 8.0 does all that this application does, plus HEAPS more, (i.e. conversions of length, mass, energy, area, volume, temperature, acceleration, etc etc). And it costs half what this application does.
I am in total agreement with Paul Worth. I cannot see that this application does anything at all that any user of any of the available search engines cannot do for himself/herself by simply by using his/her chosen search engine properly. The problem is that so few users of search engines take the time to study fully and carefully how to use their chosen search engine to maximum benefit, that they rarely get the most out of it. I really would like the Developer to advise, candidly, just what iFind does to one's search terms OTHER than put quotation marks around them !! I stress that I have nothing at all against iFind, but am utterly mystified as to why anyone at all would rave about it, or consider it some sort of search-engine break-through or wonder.
Mr Developer, are you ever going to answer that question ? Does iFind in fact do anything other than simply put quotation marks around one's search string and then feed it straight to one's chosen search engine. As a person who used to lecture university students on how to do effective computer-assisted research, and how to get the very best out of search engines, I really would appreciate your answer.
Up until the very last version of this application I absolutely LOVED it. And thought it simply outstanding. But lately, every time I try to trash an application the following Error Message pops up and it fails to trash:- "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down". Can the Developer or anyone else explain to me what this means, and what (if anything) I can do to get the application to work as beautifully as earlier versions did. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz iMac, 7,1.
Since when is this NOT the place to report a problem ? Other users do so all the time. I have no idea whether it is a "bug" or not. I am simply relating my current experience. This is a review, comment AND troubleshooting forum. That is precisely what Macupdate is all about. Those are, in fact, the only 3 options that MacUpdate provides. Are you embarrassed to be told on a public forum that a user is having a problem with your software ? Get off your high horse Mr Developer !! As I made abundantly clear, until recently I thought your application was GREAT. But now it has ceased to work. There is nothing further that I could tell you in any email I sent you than what I have already told you. I am getting that same message every time I try to trash an application.

My Java was last updated on 26.12.09, via Software Update, with "Java For Mac OSX 10.5 Update 6" version 1.0. Is it that to which you are referring ? If not, what is it that I need to install ?
Thanks for your reply. I have just now followed those instructions to the letter and reset the Java Preferences. But the application still refuses to launch. strange. And a pity !!
Jon, I opened up the Terminal application and followed your instructions to the letter. But still the application did not launch. I then followed your instructions to check which version of Java is running on my computer and got the following:-

ronalds-imac-g5:~ ronald$ java -version
java version "1.5.0_22"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_22-b03-333-9M3125)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_22-147, mixed mode, sharing)

I have absolutely no idea what all this means, as I have minimal understanding of either Java or Terminal, but it may well mean something to you.
Any further suggestions you might have would be very welcome indeed.
OK - AT LAST I understand. That Java Preferences Console is unbelievably complicated. As is Java itself to anyone other than a post-doctoral computer-science geek !! I have now put version 6 at the top of EACH of the 2 separate panels and AT LAST your application is launching. Bravo !! And thanks indeed for your help. But frankly, how is a mere mortal who is NOT a computer wizard but simply a mere lawyer, supposed to work all this out on his/her own ? It is simply diabolical. Apple should provide its users with FAR better help in relation to Java. It is NOT straightforward at all.
Thanks Jon. I have just downloaded you latest version and it is running very nicely and providing me with lots of fun ! And thanks so much for all your help with the Java problem. I really appreciated it very much.
I have a REGISTERED version of AlienConverter 3.3.4. On downloading and installing this latest version of AlienConverter, (i.e. version 3.3.6), I received the application clearly marked (and identified in the Menu Bar) as UNREGISTERED. I can find absolutely no option to input my previous License Number, nor any information whatsoever as to how to license it. So what is the position ? I have no desire or intention to pay for this application again.
What "registration email" are you referring to ? I no longer have the email that accompanied my original version 3.3.4. I DO, however, have the License Number. Please advise me clearly HOW to register the version 3.3.6 that I have just downloaded and installed. Your reply is far from clear.
I have been a very satisfied user of Espionage for quite some time now, and basically think it is an excellent application. But lately it has been behaving rather oddly. Today I sought to launch one of my many image-editing applications, (Canon Digital Photo Professional), and Espionage launched itself and told me that it needed my password. The image-editing application is in no way locked, and is certainly not in any way encrypted by Espionage - so why is this happening ? Since then, I have noticed the same strange behaviour by Espionage when I try to launch other applications too. Not all applications, but lots of other ones that are also totally ulnocked and not in any way encrypted. Has anyone experienced this ? To what may it be due ? How do I stop Espionage from launching itself and interfering in relation to my opening and launching non-encrypted files and applications ? It is a real nuisance. I am using a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac 7.1, running MacOSX 10.5.8.
Is there something wrong with this latest update ? I just downloaded it, but cannot get the disk image (dmg) file to open. Tried downloading itseveral times now, but each time get the same outcome.
I have paid in full for this product, but NOT received any licence or registration key. I have now written to the developer 3 times, but received only deafening silence. I am NOT in the least impressed. The product MAY be a good one. I don't know yet. But the customer service simply stinks.
I would be most grateful if someone would explain to me how to get this application to work.
I downloaded and installed it in my Application folder, but double-clicking on its icon does nothing whatsoever. It does not open, or do anything at all. In iTunes I do not see any evidence of its existence anywhere. I have some other art-finding applications which all work fine, so I am mystified as to why TunesArt does not. Particularly as others are giving it great reviews. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac G5. Thanks for any suggestions.
I downloaded the Trial Version of PSE 8 and tried to install it. After never-ending installation failures and further attempts to install it, I trashed the whole application in disgust. Not at all impressed Adobe : - ((
I have just downloaded this latest version of Fetch Art and installed it. At least I got the message "Software Successfully Installed" at the end of the process. But when I looked for the application in my "Applications" folder, it was nowhere to be seen at all. Remembering the bizarre problem that I had had in the past with Fetch Art, I then looked for my "Tune-Instructor" application icon in the Applications Folder. On double-clicking it - to my utter amazement - Fetch Art launched, and NOT "Tune-Instructor". Mr Developer, it is now quite plain - as I asserted some months ago - that your application interacts/conflicts significantly and adversely with the application "Tune-Instructor". Please do look into this absurd situation promptly please. For now I have had no choice but to trash both the Fetch Art and the Tune--Instructor applications. Goodness only knows what is the matter with the Fetch Art installer and why it interferes with the other application.
(Version 2.5.3)
Plainly this application was created by a Batty Gnome !! All instructions are in Japanese. Did it never occur to the Developer that non-Japanese-speaking people might conceivably wish to use his product ? Good grief !!
