Finally editing my profile today. I'm a writer, blogger, musician, songwriter, photographer, among other things. Why I didn't switch to Mac sooner I dunno. But I took the plunge and bought a MacBook Air 11" for NaNoWriMo 2010, promptly installed Scrivener on it, and haven't looked back since. Mac RULES! The rest of my Mac family includes an iPod Classic 160GB, an iPod Touch 4th Gen 32GB, and a 13" MacBook Pro 13" i7 500GB HD with 8GB RAM. I am one happy Mac owner.

Scrivener

Lee1440 reviewed on 26 Jan 2012
I didn't buy Scrivener through MacUpdate but I couldn't resist saying a few words about it here. I have nothing negative to say about this app, my favorite writing app of all the many I have tried over the years. I use it for writing essays, blog posts, stories, and even novels. Scrivener is the reason I switched to Mac. Well, it's the reason I switched when I did. On Oct 26 2010 I bought a MacBook Air, immediately downloaded Scrivener and installed it, and learned to use both before NaNoWriMo started on Nov 1. (It was the first thing I put on my MacBook Pro when I got it too.)

Macs revolutionized the way I create and Scrivener revolutionized the way I write. Dropbox syncing frees me to work on either machine and Scrivener itself frees me to work the way I want to. I jump all over the place when I write and Scrivener lets me do that without losing sight of my overall goal. I used to write in Notepad with several files open at once and lost work often enough for it to be a problem. It was not impossible but was difficult to keep in mind where I was headed with different ideas. Scrivener lets me focus on what I need to work on at any given moment while letting me step back to see the big picture with speed and ease. All my work in all its versions are on both laptops, my Dropbox account, and external drives. Writing is sheer joy now and I often open up Scrivener for the sheer pleasure of writing with it. The process has become its own reward.

Transmission

Lee1440 reviewed on 10 Jan 2012
I've only been a Mac user for a little over a year (should've switched a long time ago!) and only using a torrent client for a few days. I tried several apps and Transmission is the first one that was a breeze to set up and allowed me to download/upload some hefty files without giving me any trouble whatsoever. I also downloaded Keep Drive Spinning (available here on MacUpdate) to keep my hard drive from spinning down while Transmission purred away on its own all night. Now I'm one happy camper after days of annoyance using other clients. Easy to download, install and use. it works. Transmission gets 5 stars, a happy dance and a big hug from me.

Password Maker

Lee1440 reviewed on 16 Mar 2011
I tried to give it a higher rating but I goofed. I tried to set up an account for my new phone online and it took me forever to create an acceptable password. I tried everything I could think of, tried multiple online sites and a couple of downloaded apps. Then I remembered MacUpdate, found Password Maker, downloaded it, installed it and, poof! like magic, I had a password rated Excellent! And that's why I'm rating this app Excellent! Thank you, I was pulling my hair out! (I've only had the app for a few minutes so I can't make a helpful comment about stability.)
