A few months ago I gave PW Gorilla a try to manage my passwords.
It works great! Payed solutions like 1pw certainly offer more fancy features, but basically gorilla does all that´s needed, too.
p.e.: I use it with dropbox, the iApp "dropsafe" on my mobile device and an auto-synced USB stick (database+gorilla applications). Thus, I can access all my passwords on my Mac, anywhere by internet connection, on my mobile device or on USB stick (even on windows!).
I don´t want to miss it!
my suggested improvements:
- mac-like interface
- full integration of non-url locations such as applications, files, disk images, WLAN/VPN...
- optional sendkey functionality for paste-protected input fields
No problems here. Downloaded the software, installed it, loaded vst plugin - played.
Did you previous posters really have X11 installed? I also had wine preinstalled, maybe that made it work for me.
I didn´t yet test it thoroughly, so no review and no rating so far.
But as I can say, this software can be installed and can be used. It does not look quite mac-like and it seems a little bit dated (december last year), but it may well deserve a four or five star rating.
It calculates a random pattern of black/white pixels and displays it on screen. That´s noise - somehow. But unfortunately the result looks far too crisp to be considered "noise", respectively video noise. To gain speed, it also divides the screen into several divisions with each division to display the same pattern. Thus, the eye detects regular artefacts in the noise.
Suggested improvements:
- option to change screen resolution for screen saver (faster, more dirt through interpolation)
- pattern calculation and display by row (as is with analog video)
- previous pixel (horiz.) influences random color status of actual pixel
- neighbouring pixels shade each other (horizontal)
- option to influence the video noise with audio input (advanced suggestion)
to get localized versions: goto the all languages site, copy the download link into clipboard, paste it into the url address field, and replace the version number e.g. "13" to "14" - go!
runs well, I like most refinements of weapon rules, AI karts are more difficult to beat, very nice new tracks (missing the other island "beach" though), hopefully they will bring back networking support soon.
Great fun game for kids and childish adults :)
This version does not reintroduce VBA compatibility to the Windows Office Suite. For example, there here are major issues with Ribbon customization, some classes do not even exist.
If you are working cross-platform you will definitely have to do a lot of double programming. Good times of 2004 did not reappear. Very annoying.
This said, the suite seems to do well for the avarage simple user.
Conclusion: 2011 is a small step for the avarage user, but a great pain for developers.
But recently I got aware of a problem with iGetter: sometimes it makes troubles with the permissions of downloaded files, namely apps and installers.
So if you encounter problems like quitting installers or apps refusing to launch (those recently loaded with iGetter), give Safari a try for those troublesome files.
One of my standard ScreenSavers, though I only use it every now and then. It is easy to use and works very well (and I never encountered any "displacement" of my videos :). Merci bien!
Having read the previous comments, I´d like to make a suggestion to the developer: How about changing the idea for the program from computer aided parenting towards computer gaming - designed for children. Kids could choose the story they want to hear by themselves. The only thing that needed to be changed is the gki, the graphical kid interface. Some big yet simple icons representing the stories, to make selection easier, plus a picture of a Teddy or something, representing the person telling the story, sometimes moving his head or arm, started and paused by a click on his mouth - there are no boundaries for imagination...
Then this program would be more than a technical prothesis for the grandmother, it would be a toy, played by children themselves, or together with their (grand-)parents.
