It's hit the wall by 2011, it's a PPC-only utility so it can't be run with OSX Lion. Rats!!
Come on Canon, you've updated other software for the latest OS, pull finger!!
Simple basic interface, should work a treat, but it stalled with my first attempt, possibly because the text file I wanted to encrypt was too long. I'm not sure.
A Readme describing the options and limitations of the app with explanations of any cryptic alerts would be a big help.
I'll keep trying, this could be a useful program.
Appears to work, but I ran into fish-hooks. My MacBook's TM ext drive initially refused to mount when plugged into a G4 iBook running Tiger. When it did mount and I successfully instructed the MacBook to access it via Airport and ethernet, TM started to recreate the backups from scratch then ran out of room. It's a nominally 160GB drive to back up a 120GB internal with about 84GB used. The 160 already had TM files on board but when mounted as a networked volume those files were ignored. I suspect that the network drive required for TM is better attached to a Leopardised Mac. The drive mounting process seems a bit random and may cause the network connection to hang.
Phew has been a killer utility for me. I've got a Philips digital photoframe that doesn't like Macs. Each image alternates with a mystery file that plays meery hell with the slide show and the memory card capacity (metadata of some sort??)
But image files backed up to my SD cards with Phew don't have the extra components, so I get full capacity and clean slide shows. Yaaaaay!!!
(This might be a problem for backups where that 'metadata' is important. )
I had problems with the booklet printing as expected in my Canon MP630 (duplex) except that alternate pages were reversed.
I finally tracked it down to the setting for Stapling side (Duplex Printing & Margin menu). Everything came right when it was set to Short-side stapling (Top).
My guess is that in the gymnastics of flipping the pages over to rearrange the order, the apparent staple margin shifted from A4 to A5 has to twist, as it were.
My thanks to the developer. ;^)
