Quicken Essentials
Jwilson13 commented on 06 Feb 2004
I have applied the update and haven't had any problems. In fact it looks like a very long list of bugs they have addressed. I had been having Quicken 2004 "unexpectedly quit" on me very often, so hopefully this will help that problem.

EtherFast 1-4 Port Cable/DSL Router
Jwilson13 commented on 06 Feb 2004
FYI, this is from a Linksys Tech-

"Please remember that the firmware is only for the Version 4 of the BEFW11S4 and is not backwards compatible.

I'm sorry for that."

Apple Bluetooth
Jwilson13 commented on 06 Feb 2004
I don't have a bluetooth headset to report on but, for anyone else wondering whether or not to apply this update, it has installed fine on multiple macs for me with not problems. The bluetooth devices I do have still work with the macs like before.

SleepLess
Jwilson13 commented on 06 Feb 2004
This works much better than going in to the Energy Saver preferences for those who don't always want their mac to never sleep. What I mean is, most of the time, I DO want my powerbook to sleep after a set amount of time. However, there are occasions where I do NOT want it to sleep. So instead of changing the preferences and then changing them back and half the time forgetting to even change them back, I can now use this little and free app. Works Great!

Apple MobileMe Backup

Jwilson13 reviewed on 05 Feb 2004
I've been using Backup 2.0 for awhile now, mainly because it is a free download for .mac users.

It's probably not the best backup app out there, but it does the job for me. Probably not what you need if you want to backup or sync a large amount of files, but if there are just a few documents you want to make sure get backed up you can schedule backup to do it for you.

Apple iChat
Jwilson13 commented on 05 Feb 2004
Install fine on a couple 10.3.2 macs for me. Video Conferencing between iChat and iChat still works great, but I was unable to Video Conference with a AIM PC user. The video invitation pops up and I'm able to accept it, but it never able to complete the connection.

It is Beta, and while I'm unhappy it isn't quite working for me yet, I'm excited about the possibilities.

Very cool! I like being able to change the font now! Nice to use on a mac you set up to just play music.

After Dark X + Fish
Jwilson13 commented on 03 Feb 2004
I purchased After Dark X + Fish 1.0 out of nostalgia for the old Fish screen saver. Unfortunately I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the whole screensaver package even though it was only $5.

First of all, Fish runs extremely slow even on a G4/867 powerbook. The other screensavers included in the afterdark package don't have as many options as the originals either. And, unfortunately, they changed the flying toast with out an option to just have it like the original.

ShowOff

I've had the same issue of crashes when clearing the record cache.

I really like the idea. If you remember the old days when you tracked your uptime by hours instead of days, it's really neat to see how long a MacOSX machine can keep going and going and going...

Muscle!

Would really like to try this app, but it keeps wanting to open in Classic. I've downloaded it multiple times with the same thing happening every time.
