Easy to set up and resolves dynamic IP issues BUT it is jerky, imprecise and delivers a picture of the remote desktop that's smaller and with seemingly harder to control cursor movement.
My comparison for these thoughts is my Timbuktu which is now tangled in a Verizon FIOS's modem's security tentacles.
Timbuktu's new owner (Motorola) is completely out of the helpful support mode.
LogMeIn's free version doesn't allow file transfers so what's the point unless all you ant to do is see if the cat's sleeping or not?
So, even though LogMeIn has good support, the product lacks the elegance and same-size controllability of Timbuktu which runs free after purchase. I'm going back and just shake a stick at Verizon's modem mentors.
This is the single best time-saver device I've found for my desktop.
After any restart, all my drive and other folder icons get scattered like a bad pool break.
DIM faultlessly saves the day with an instantaneous resurrection.
Beware: The upgrade to 3.6 tossed out all my Themes and loaded in the default look. I had to remember and download all the Themes again.
Also (and much worse) Firefox 3.6 will positively not load any Hotmail pages. Safari does just fine but Firefox seems to have been banned from Hotmail.
Now I can't get my mail.
Two hours of paid troubleshooting and I still can't get into Hotmail.

Got it free from MacWorld giveaway. I can use such a program but there's no way to register it. The developer site's nonexistent.
Also, during the trial period, every five copies and it throws up a nagging "buy me" screen. Hey, I would if there was a way.
PopCopy runs fine on the iMac but will not mount on my G4 iBook with OS X 10.4xx If that isn't enough, it won't trash because it's running but where?? It doesn't show on the drive and won't quit.
I love this app but am experiencing a problem when I assign a custom icon to a mounted exterior drive on my Mac OSx 10.4.11 desktop.
The icon pastes fine and stay there until the drive is accessed by a clone program. (SuperDuper!) After being accessed, the custom icon disappears and the generic hard drive icon returns. (The custom name does not change, thankfully.)
Any ideas about why this happens and how to correct it?
Many thanks
JP
