ePub DRM Removal
Jofallon commented on 27 Aug 2011
Using Calibre and the plug-in python scripts, the BN encryption is easily handled with a nice GUI. I guess if you run Little Snitch or the like, you could see if this app phones home with your credit card info. I'd rather send some money to Kovid Goyal.

SplashID Safe
Jofallon commented on 14 Sep 2010
I've been using SplashID since mid 2001. I've started getting emails offering me a commission on sales they derive through me; three in the last twelve hours. Oddly enough, the emails come from the iambic.com domain. SplashData appears to have acquired Iambic last spring. 1Password seems to be a nice solid app these days, and I don't much like dealing with a company doing this sort of thing. No doubt it was a mistake.

Postbox

jofallon reviewed on 23 Aug 2009
It does work. The tiny font in the GUI (probably a limit from Thunderbird) is pretty annoying for someone with a large monitor who prefers bigger fonts.

Importing messages from anything but Thunderbird is really unpleasant. I have 100+ mailboxes I use for organizing the mail I keep - ten plus years of mail. The search feature is great, but importing mailboxes as raw messages one at a time - is crazy. The product is still in beta.
Plenty of time for improvement.

Eudora

jofallon reviewed on 22 May 2009
It's still a work-in-progress, but it's getting there. It does seem to be quite stable, for me anyway, and it (oddly) gives me fewer problems than Apple Mail, which is tells me it needs to be have its indexes rebuilt periodically. I'm still keeping an eye on MailForge and Postbox, but this looks like it will be good enough.
