This is a disaster! As always, Intuit caters to Windows users and they clearly miss the mark for Mac users. The good news is that at least Intuit is consistent when it comes to the Mac... They do not know what they are doing and they can't make anything good.... Just like Windows... They never really do anything new, they have the same code and just make mostly visual adjustments. They are very similar to Microsoft... their days with their outdated code is nearing an end because they do not know what else to to. This applies to the Mac! They made something, but cannot advance any further.
I am actually glad they are a flop! I would love for another company to come along an blow them out of the water. Many people are without jobs right now and I can see one CEO of a company that should be at the front of that line!!!! The one at Intuit! Next the programmers need to go! Making code for a Mac is so much easier... I would love for someone to blow this company out of the water. I would get great satisfaction is everyone there finally asking the question "what did we do wrong" as they close up shop! This response should tell them!!! You did not support the Mac community! When you snooze; you loose! Intuit is become a lot like K-Mart... You had a great thing going, but your leaders failed!
I know this is a harsh comment, but Intuit needs to be taken down for their support to the Mac community for both Quicken and Quickbooks. There is no reason whatsoever as to why they do not have a Quicken and Quickbooks for the Mac community that matches the Windows version feature for feature. Oh well.... As I said, they have remained consistent!
Still not there yet... I am a Quicken for WIndows user that just cannot find a good Mac application that can even come close to matching Quicken. Moneydance 2010 does come close! I have emailed and commented to them many times about adding the ability to also use the software as a document center like Quicken does. They should add the ability to attach images of receipts, warranties, and other documentation to individual transactions within accounts. They should also add this feature to the actual accounts to add images of monthly bank and credit card statements. Quicken has nailed this feature! Companies that make software for the Mac are way behind. This was the first program that had great potential! However, like the other companies, they are not hearing feedback as they develop their software.
It looks like iBank may be the first company to actually do this in a future release. Had Moneydace really took the feedback, they could be the leader in the Mac community. Oh well, somebody will make the right software and truly win in the Mac community. We need a financial application that matches the Windows world "feature for feature" and then something new and exciting that for the 1st time, an application is better than anything out there for Windows and made for the Mac. This will be a great day!!!
In short, Moneydance 2010 is okay. It is not great and could be much better. In my opinion, it is par for the other Mac application when it comes to a financial software package - weak, misses the mark, and very basic.
You make a very good point. While it may appear inconvenient, it is nice to have all statement right there in one program. Also, not all banks and credit card companies allow you go go back as far as a year if you needed those statements. Some do and some don't. Finally, it is also nice to attach loan documents and many other things. I even keep letters from the credit card companies regarding term changes and so on. It is a very useful feature to allow attachments to transactions and individual accounts.
Thanks!
