I prefer to use a WDTV Live (non Hub version) that pulls media from a DLNA NAS or Samba share. I want to give this a try and see if it can work with those and not just a WDTV Live Hub.
Last night I tried using HubFlow to add info on an .m4v file sitting on my NAS. I searched for the title, found the correct one, pointed it at the corresponding video file (the NAS drive was mounted on my desktop via Samba), and saved the two files HubFlow made. I fired up my WDTV Live (the current generation one) and looked at my video file. BOOM, there was the thumbnail with the correct artwork. So at least in my case, it works with older WDTV's well.
It has worked very well for me so far. Of course, you can't know 100% until something bad happens and you need to do a recovery.
One tidbit that may or may not affect your view of it... I choose to only run Backblaze in manual backup mode. I do not want a backup kicking in when I am on certain networks due to bandwidth concerns.
Whenever Growl switched to just a Mac App Store download, I knew there would be some problems. Now I see that one of the problems will be the free-to-pay conversion of some of the things that works with Growl. The nickle-and-diming is in full swing apparently. Even if Hardware Growler was a free download from the MAS, it would still be problematic for group installs.
I know this may be a plus for encode novices, but calling the various outputs "Apple", "Google", "Sony", etc.. annoys me. It works well though, so that is the big thing.

I do NOT want to see visible version numbers go away though.

If I remember right, Handbrake uses some of the VLC libraries for DVD decoding.
