The above text does not tell me what the difference is between VirusBarrier X6 and VirusBarrier Express.
A visit to the web site is even more-cloudy. I could not find any mention at all of VirusBarrier Express. It's probably there somewhere, but I just couldn't find it.
And, like so many other sellers who are embarrassed about the price of their product, the VirusBarrier page does not announce the price. You must click the "buy now" button first.
And I wonder if Intego understands that it's ONLY America that talks about "Black Friday" for this week. For the rest of the world, Black Friday means the 13th of any month that is a Friday. Just another example of American cultural insensitivity/nationalism/terrorism.
Sorry, Font Wizard is just as deficient as all the other font utilities I've scrutinized. Somehow, this is a software tool category that developers seem determined shall languish in obscurity and uselessness forever.
Font Wizard does indeed display even my uninstalled fonts which gives it a big advantage over the other also-rans but then, for some reason, it has not been given the privilege of any preferences, leaving all font names forever displayed WYSIWYG in the left hand table, which is absolutely useless since actual appearance is already as visible as can be, in the right hand field where it is needed.
Also, it would be so helpful if a font could just be drag-and-dropped into the utility but no, one must use a clumsy menu command. Sigh.
I would gladly pay $100 for a font utility that does it all. These are pesky little files that need better management than Apple gives us. I have 50,000 of them and am seriously handicapped by the inability to manage them in a sensible way. Just about the only thing that keeps me alive these days is the dream that somewhere, somehow, sometime, a hero will emerge and fill this glaring void. Alas, Font Wizard is not the answer. Not yet, anyway.
"REQUIREMENTS
PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later" is dishonest.
As their web site and other posters point out, NONE of their products works with Lion.
For me, FruitMenu is a must-have. I have purchased Lion but I will not update from SnowLeo until FruitMenu works. If this bunch of asshole developers don't get their act together, looks like I'll be stuck in the wilderness with SnowLeo. Or until Apple wakes up and restores the functionality of the OS9 Apple menu.
I've been using version 2.0b6r2 for a while and I love it, no problems. Today, when I try to install this updated version, freeze each time. No guarantee the fault lies with this PrefPane, I haven't yet gone looking for a different cause. But I think it is so. Maybe some sort of conflict?
Was it OS 9 that had three-D folder icons on an angle? I forget. Whenever it was, I miss them still.
You know, don't you, how to do this without use of any utility? Of course you do. Select folder, then Command-I Click the folder icon at the top of the window. Command-V to paste a new graphic that's on your clipboard.
Oh god, save us from meta-sites! (I call them para-sites.) Andromeda does have its own web site, it's just obscured and swamped by all the meta-sites that flood the web these days. I should've tried the obvious — andromeda dot com. And there are demos available of their products, many others of which will also appeal to a Photoshop phiddler.
A similar tool, Varifocus, used to be available from Andromeda Software, who are in Australia. I used it often for years and it was excellent but, for a long time, there was no OSX version. I just went to look again and now there is. But Andromeda have a strange way of doing business. They seem to have no web site of their own. You must reach them at and guess what, also no demo version! At $129 you really will care this time.
