It's quite ornate, but a very useful widget. Much faster than sherlock. I'm diggin' the retro look.
Feature request: a la TV tracker, click on a title, and you're directed to a movie's QuickTime trailers page--if available. I don't know if that's possible programmatically, but it'd be cool.
Okay, I've tried it. Functionally, it does what it does well...but it's not very pretty.
While I'd like to see directions, I'd prefer it go one step further by adding the ability to find a map listing of the item currently selected in either the address book or the yellow pages widgets--or, use both for directions.
Finally, I believe Google (and NAVTEQ) would frown on the copyright info being cut off. I think that should be fixed--it's only fair since you're using their service.
One issue, the popup bubble has no data in it. I'm not sure if that's a problem with the address I entered, or the widget itself.
Ditto the comment below this one. The Uptime entry does not appear to be accurate, and it doesn't always load. Otherwise, I gladly added this widget to my Dashboard, and removed the other one.
Okay, after finding a clue, I realize how this widget works. It doesn't load widgets to your dashboard, it makes them available for loading to Dashboard.
Okay...it works well enough, but I don't require an 'Extensions Manager' for widgets.
Maybe it's just me, but this PrefPane doesn't do anything. I mean, it has every widget listed, and they are all checked--even though I'm only using a few of them. Whether I check/uncheck one, my Dashboard doesn't change--despite reloading each time I check/uncheck a widget.
I can see a benefit to this Pane, but it doesn't work.
One question though: Exactly how should multiple occurrences of a Widget be handled by this app. Weather, RSS, Clock, and Package Tracking widgets can easily have 2 or 3 instances.
There are two widgets for TV out now, and this one is superior.
I think the 'TV' theme takes away from the widgets effectiveness. IF they went with a different look, the font, and size of the widget might be more appealing.
Functionally, I think its excellent.
You type in your ZIP in the info panel, select your provider, and how may hours you want stored. You also select the channels you want displayed.
Flip back over, and the data downloads. I didn't think the wait was unreasonable--especially after trying out the other app. Clicking on a show takes you to the Yahoo! TV listing for the show--cool and unexpected.
I just thought the style of the widget required the narrow font, which may be arduous for some to read. I could read it.
Feature request: Since you have all of the show data, any chance of clicking on a show, and having it generate an EyeTV friendly file?
I've been looking for such a solution, and would pay for it if necessary. Heck, ElGato might pay for it too.
First, this is a great concept. I love that you can have multiple instances of it, to track various shipments.
A few gripes:
1: You can't switch back to the FedEx/UPS view after selecting one.
2: USPS is not supported.
3: It'd be nice it I could type in the package being delivered--or if the sender's name could show up. I am tracking two now and I am not sure which is which without goping to my email to verify.
4: Is there a way to refresh the information? Does it refresh automatically?
Umm, this is not freeware. It will stop working in 30 days, unless it's paid for.
Works fine here, I used MenuMeters before Tiger, and this is a great replacement--were it free. After the trial period, I'm going back to the --free--MenuMeters.
Dasher does what it is designed for well. I wish it added another option: To activate dashboard upon sleeping the machine. I find it useful to have weather, stocks, and other widgetty goodnes ready for me when I get to the computer in the morning.
It could use a few more features to help justify being a PrefPane.
