Note that this encoder does not work with MPEG Streamclip's Export to AVI.

Not according to the developer. Go to http://www003.upp.so-net.ne.jp/mycometg3/

Under Known Issues for the latest release of xvidEncoder 1.2.21 (Last Update: 2011/02/26):

* Incompatible with MPEG Streamclip's AVI export feature, including "Save as AVI.component".

Ardiem doesn't work on my Intel-based Mac.
