Ok, so this thing looks really nice. BUT... they claim you can spread the tank across multiple screens. Not from the screensaver you can't! If you use the screen saver with dual monitors, it mirrors the tank. The separate app lets you drag the size of the tank between dual screens, but how is that useful as a screen saver? I use the screensaver NOT the app. Am I missing something here?
Ok, so far this software just works. No problem. It rips DVDs no fuss no muss. I used to be a supporter of MTR and even donated (they call it a "gift") so that I could get the latest and greatest. I don't mind that aspect so much, it's the fact that there is only one dude making that software and seems to have a lot of drama in his life. As a result, the software development gets pushed to the back burner. As we all know, DVD ripping software needs to be updated constantly due to the new DVD encryption techniques. That said, I pretty much gave up on MTR because most the new DVDs I try to rip would not work. I've been using anyDVD in Windows XP (via Parallels). It works great, but I hate Windows and the process takes longer. I'm hoping MDRP is going to alleviate that. So far, looks like it! :)
Yeah... I never liked the icon either. An orange road cone usually means "hazard" or "avoid this" etc. What does that have to do with being a media player?
Hopefully this 1.0 version will let me play AVI videos again. The last version did not.
Does not work for me. Syncing one folder from my Mac Pro to My Macbook. There is a newer file on the Mac Pro. The log says it copied said file, yet when I open the file on the Macbook it was not the new version. I also noticed every time I sync, the log shows it copying the same files every time. Time for me to find another solution.
I had problems. Everything was REALLY slow. Even after I started with a clean library file. I downgraded 8.0.2 and all is well again. I'm going to wait for iTunes 9.
I simply removed the iTunes app from my hard drive as well as the file within library/receipts folder. I downloaded 8.0.2 from the Apple website. When software update nags about wanting to update to 8.1 again, I told it to ignore that update from now on.
The developer of MTR could learn a lesson from these RipIt folks. This is how to properly publish a DVD ripping application for the Mac. You make some software and you sell it. Simple as that. No taking "donations" from people only to hold off on development of the software because of a divorce. Real tech support too. Not bashing the innocent in forum threads.
If you got Xp installed on a Bootcamp partition, STAY AWAY from 4.x. I've been plagued with constant BSOD on booting XP Pro. Yet... XP boots fine via bootcamp or VMware fusion (which I dont like). I'm reverting back to Parallels 3.x. It may be slower than 4.0, but it's at least STABLE!
I bet this version still cannot rebuild a 500GB hard drive that is used for a Time Machine backup. Disk Warrior has a limitation... if you have a lot of files on a big drive, it does not have enough RAM to rebuild that volume. I have 8GB RAM. Tech Support told me there is nothing they can do unless they re-write Disk Warrior to be able to use more RAM. Ludicrous if you ask me!
