I downloaded and installed a trial copy of DO. When I first launched it, DO asked for my password for "permission to make changes." This didn't appear as the standard Mac installing new software screen.
Nothing in the ReadMe explained the use/purpose for the password ... and I was unable to select and proceed without my password, so I deleted DO.
I'm sure this is benign, but what an unfortunate choice of words.
Quick "correction," the "permission to make changes" screen DOES appear for things like Attachment Tamer ... apps that add functionality by using bundles.
iCal continues to disappoint while BusyCal improves. But the missing link for business users is a connection to MS Exchange. Many of us have no choice.
I've been using Fantastical for calendar entry. It connects thru iCal to Exchange.) And I'm considering using BusyCal for its excellent interface ... a sort of read-only window into the parts of my life that are controlled by Exchange. If this works well, I could recommend this to many of my users.
Has anyone tried this ... and discovered problems/issues?
An excellent application ... a workhorse on my desktop. My only wish is that it were integrated with ActiveSync so that I could send out invitations from within QC. (BTW- is there anything sloooower than the App Store? Whew.)
Definitely resource intense! I am impressed with the features, functions, and speed. But the fact that my CPU jumps up some 20 degrees hotter when RocketBox runs really surprises me. What is happening behind the scenes to be this resource intense? (MBP 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB, 10.6.4) As no one else has reported this, it's possible that it is something in my configuration.
I've been experimenting with GR for the last day or so, wanting to see how it works. Pros: the "native" 3 pane view, including a view of the web page, easy configuration of first queries, regular updating of queries. Cons: no "activity/progress window" to show that a query is being refreshed, no re-sizing of main window - it's all or nothing, weak query support (though I may be wrong on this, still experimenting.) It's probably worth the price, but it has an unfinished feel, and without some kind of progress window, you have no way to know that its working.
Struggling with removing VirusBarrier ... I found that the installer/uninstaller worked quite well. It quite all the associated 'virusbarrier' processes, whereas removing them manually will only result in their re-starting. I have not checked for residual files. I'm sure they are there, but this is a solid first step.
Appears to work well with my MBP running 10.6.2 - 4GB. It can consume a fair amount of RAM - 140 MB or so: less than Safari; more than Mail.
On occasion the lock will activate when I am at the machine and my iphone is on my hip. Moving the phone back to my desktop solves the problem right away.
Maybe it would be nice to have some kind of confirming message from Amego, telling us that the iPhone connection is live and working? So far, all I've seen is a bluetooth error message, and no way to know that Amego is "live."
It feels like a guilty pleasure. It's a little too much like the Windows Task Bar to feel really "Mac-like," but it does do the job well. Very nice to be able to navigate to individual windows crisply, seeing what's in the window before I land there. I've always use 'Witch" for this kind of navigation in the past. If it had a hot key to move between windows ... more people would use Fantasktik.
Hmmm ... trying this out and like it much, but my text is not centered in the object, but rather centers in a "box" that extends to the right of the object.
After the upgrade Lion. it looks like I have an odd issue with ME:
I'll be replying to a message in Mail or moving a window in finder ... and suddenly the window disappears. Sometimes I find it down at the bottom left of the screen, with only the title bar showing. Other times, it will "walk" to the bottom of the screen on its own ... a "stutter step at a time," while I try in vain to stop it.
In Mail, this tends to happen if I start typing in the reply before the Genie has openened the message all the way. In the Finder, it seems to happen if I move a window too quickly to the edge of a screen or across to my second monitor."
The problem stops as soon as I turn off Menu Everywhere. I've written BB but no response so far.
Since my upgrade to Lion, my Console floods with "kernel: IPV6 Non Local address" messages. Turn off GB and the messages go away.
I've worked with the developer - VERY responsive - but haven't been able to solve the problem. So far, the conclusion has been that it it is a bug in Lion.
I have removed WideMail. I like it very much, but it doesn't fit my work habits. But now I've lost the column in individual mailboxes and in the View>Columns menu. Does anyone know how to restore this?
Was very interested in managing my airport locations and did a quick download, but all I get is the spinning ball of death each time I I click on the menubar icon ...
Excellent response from the developer: timely and thorough. The working theory is that something blocked network traffic. Perhaps Little Snitch. I cannot replicate so the problem is open, I suppose. But the Dev gets "high marks." AL now working at home and work.
There may be a conflict between Airlock and the OSX ScreenSaver. When the regular time-out on my screen-saver kicks in, it is set to lock the screen. But when Airlock has also locked my screen AND I do not have my iPhone nearby, I click on the unlock padlock in the lower right portion of my screen BUT I cannot get the cursor into the Airlock dialog box. I cannot enter my password and am stuck. Ugh. The solution -- so far -- has been a restart.

Office Open XML File Format Converter
The latest version requires that Safari be shut down before installing the update. Wondering why that would be necessary.
As I write this comment, with the installer in the background, the "You must close Safari ..." box has begun popping up in front of Safari repeatedly.
Taking a pass for now ...

Apple allows one to pair your iPhone to your Mac ... but not connect. Correct?
How could this work?

Glims
With pop-ups unblocked, Safari now loads the pop-up in a tab AND I lose the status bar, the tab bar and the bookmark bar.
Delete Glims and all is well.
Also running 1Password and Adblock.

This problem has been out there for some time now. The developer emailed assuring me that a fix was coming, but that's been over a month ago now.
